SM Home Bed Linen Sale

If you missed the Mega Sale 2 weeks ago and you’re want to buy bed linens, here is your chance:

SM Home is holding a Linen Sale until October 31 na lang! Up to 50% on bed linens.

Last Mega Sale, I bought our bed linen from Royal Linens at 20% off. The Queen set includes 2 pillow case, 1 bed sheet and one duvet cover for PhP 3040. I bought another set (2 cases) of pillow case as accent (maroon one) for PhP 640. Here’s the look of my bed (I still need a case for my Dunlopillo bolster):

Duvet filler from Royal Linens is 3600 (discounted price), maharlika! But it’s100% microfibre naman. I found a duvet filler (kaso pang king lang) from Canadian Bed for PhP 1800.. mura di ba? though not 100% microfibre, OK na din. Some brands kase offer a polyester duvet filler at PhP2000+. Sulit buy na ang nasa Canadian.

For my kids, I got them character pillow cases from Canadian Bed din. Barbie pillow case for Sati at PhP 390 per set (2 cases). Naka sale yan kaya ganyan kamura… regular price is PhP 700+. For my boys, I bought NBA bedding set from Canadian din. PhP 1050 for double set which includes flat sheet and 2 pillow case. Balak ko, since their bed is 30″ lang naman, hatiin ung flat sheet.

I only bought a set each for our beds… nag aantay din ako ng sale pa.. I heard, aside from the one happening right now at SM Home, there will be a Megatrade sale on bed linen this November. Syempre I am going to keep you posted about.

Discovering Mott’s 100% Apple Juice Nurturing Goodness

Hindi ko talaga ma gets ang kasabihan na “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Wala naman lasa apple eh.. eh it doesn’t look that nutritious naman but after attending Mott’s Nurturing Goodness For Your Family event, naniwala na ako.. at dahil hindi naman ako kumakain ng apple, lagi na ako iinom ng Mott’s 100% Apple Juice.

If I remember it right, hubby’s friend recommended the use of apple juice to eliminate gall stones and cleanse the colon. I can’t vouch to the  effectiveness of this ha (kidney stones passing with the help of cranberry juice ang nangyari sa akin) but it doesn’t hurt to try, specially that there are so many benefits of including apple (may it be fruit or 100% juice) on your diet.

Here are the benefits of drinking 100% Apple Juice discussed during the event:

  1. Just one serving of apple juice already gives your body a nice boost of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Apple juice also got Vitamin C and polyphenol antioxidants.
  2. Drinking apple juice a day helps lower the risk of heart disease.
  3. A study has shown that apple consumption has been associated with decreased risk of asthma.
  4. Apple juice not only has antioxidant activity, it also has antimutagenic characteristics, anti- inflammatory mechanisms, and immunity features that help reduce the risk of cancer
  5. Drinking apple juice also improves memory. A new study shows that drinking apple juice prevents the decline of an essential neurotransmitter known as acetylcholine.
  6. Helps fight Alzheimer’s Disease: Antioxidant- rich apple juice may also reduce problems associated with memory loss and help fight Alzheimer’s Disease.

With the many benefits drinking of apple juice, it’s no wonder then that one for the country’s most conscientious mom, Janice Crisostomo- Villanueva  likes stocking up Mott’s 100% Original Apple Juice.

Mommy Mundo founder, Janice, says, “Like most moms today, I am discerning about what I put in the grocery cart, what goes into our refrigerator, what goes into my kids’ bodies. First thing we moms do when we consider buying a product is usually check the label.”

Janice continues, “When you see a label like that of Mott’s we sometimes feel we hit the jackpot because we’ve found a healthier alternative for our family. The fact that it not not only tastes good, but it is 100% Apple Juice, with 0% fat, no sugar added, is gluten free and with added Vitamin C and knowing that it has been a well loved brand for more than a century makes Mott’s a perfect complement to my goals for a healthy lifestyle for me and my family.”

Aside from the above mentioned benefits of apple, it can trigger creativity din yata..kase after drinking a glass of Mott’s 100% Original Apple Juice, we were challenged to recycle an empty bottle of Mott’s and turn it into something artistic.. and our group came up with a Christmas tree (walang gunting yan ha!)

Malapit na magpasko and apple really reminds me of Christmas…dati kase that was the only time na kumakain kame  ng apples… but thanks to this event, now I know how beneficial apple is! Like Janice, I’ll be hoarding stocking up on Mott’s 100% Original Apple Juice.

Join Knorr Lutong Nanay Food Fair And Help Battle Malnutrition

Do you know that at least 5 million children are malnourished here in our country? That data comes from Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the DOST. Ang taas no? Malnutrition is really an issue here in our country.

Knorr, being known in empowering Filipinos to cook flavorful, nutritious and affordable meals everyday, took action and started its “Lutong Nanay” Nutrition Program in various barangays and communities nationwide. In the fight against malnutrition, Knorr promotes the importance of healthy meals prepared by moms for their kids.

Knorr partnered with Kabisig Kalahi for the Metro Manila leg of this program. Akala nyo namigay lang sila ng food? The program is more than that.. sabi nga  ng famous quote, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” at ganyan ang ginawa ng Knorr, with simple, easy to follow, healthy meals, moms learned how to provide their kids with delicious and nutritious dishes.

Here are some of the activities that Knorr Lutong Nanay program has been doing:

Knorr recently visited two barangays in Smokey Mountain, Barangay 101 and Barangay 128, with its ambassadors. Dimples Romana, Danica Sotto-Pingris and Sari Jorge joined forces to help educate moms and children the importance of a healthy diet for the family. Over a meal of afritada, they also shared their personal experiences, cooking secrets and how they entice their kids to eat a healthy, balanced meal with the help of Knorr.

“It was a beautiful experience na makasama ang katulad kong Knorr Lutong Nanay moms together with our children in sending out a message to all the other Filipino moms like us to join in our fight against malnutrition,” said Dimples Romana.

Meanwhile, ambassadors Carmina Villaroel and Chesca Kramer joined Knorr at the Cardinal Sin Village. Mothers and children collectively learned the importance of a vigorous diet for the family. The program was a good exchange of insights, experience and learnings not only from the ambassador, but from resident mothers as well.

“Feeding our families nutritious food doesn’t have to be expensive. What’s important is that we give them a well-balanced meal every day,” says Carmina Villaroel.

As the theme of sharing experiences and learnings continued, one mother shared, “Ngayon, kaya ko nang magluto ng pagkain na hindi lang masarap, masustansya pa.” Another participant shared how she realized the importance of preparing healthier meals for her family by incorporating vegetables in their meal plan unlike before, where they usually prepare meals with minimal consideration to nutritional value.

Tayong mga nanay, bilang kadalasang tiga handa ng pagkain, can really help in the fight against malnutrition in Filipino children by serving healthy meals to our family. Here’s my share of Knorr Lutong Nanay meal:

Sinigang na baboy where I used two Knorr Sinigang Mix variants: with Gabi and with sili… try nyo yan mga inay, mas magiging masarap ang sinigang ninyo.

It’s a long way to go but Knorr’s ongoing program is a big step towards fighting malnutrition in Filipino children.

To take an active role in alleviating malnutrition, join Knorr and its partners for the first Lutong Nanay Nutrition Program Food Fair:
