Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach interviews “candidates” seeking to join online ESL platform 51Talk

51Talk, together with their new Philippine brand ambassador, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, held its first-ever live stream interview via Facebook after hundreds of aspiring online English teachers signed-up to get a chance to be part of the show. The live stream is part of 51Talk’s campaign to invite qualified Filipinos who are interested to take advantage of the 30,000 home-based online teaching opportunities offered by 51Talk where people can teach, learn and most importantly – earn.

Listed in the New York Stock Exchange, 51Talk is the leading online English education platform that connects thousands of Filipino teachers to foreign English language learners via an interactive virtual classroom.

More than 70,000 viewers tuned in and joined the fun and inspiring live stream which allowed them to learn more about the teach at home opportunity and acquainted them with the application process that can be completed in as fast as three days. Pia interviewed nine pre-selected candidates from different backgrounds who shared their heartwarming stories on how they found hope in 51Talk after losing their jobs or livelihood.

Several of the candidates expressed how the pandemic has affected their current livelihood, especially those who belong to the travel and events industries.

Paula, a professional dancer and instructor who has been performing and teaching for 14 years, had a lot of her events and classes cancelled due to COVID-19. She came across the 51Talk online teaching opportunity and decided to give it a shot since she has teaching experience.

“I want to be able to translate my teaching skills from dance and performance arts into teaching English. I just love sharing what I know and see my students grow into the best versions of themselves,” shared Paula.

Trina, a professional events host, found herself in the same boat as a lot of her hosting gigs were cancelled or postponed indefinitely.

“While the situation we are in can be very disheartening, I decided to try out as a 51Talk teacher and I’m happy that I made it to this fun interview with no less than Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach!” exclaimed Trina. Trina gave the viewers a taste of her fun, entertaining energy as she sang songs both in English and Chinese

Pearl, another one of the candidates, candidly shared how the past few months have been very tough for those in the travel industry. She was about to return as a flight attendant after her maternity leave but her retraining was put on hold as travel restrictions are still in place. Having no income, Pearl said she had to find a stable and sustainable livelihood that would allow her to help her husband, especially now that they have their first child.

“When I learned about the opportunity in 51Talk, it gave me hope and made me revisit my childhood dream of becoming an educator,” shared Pearl. “Even if I don’t have any teaching experience, I didn’t hesitate to sign-up. I borrowed my sister’s laptop just so I could apply. I’m very excited to start teaching in 51Talk.”

According to 51Talk teacher Angelo Lex who co-hosted the show, being an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher is very profitable as he gets to earn at the comfort and safety of his own home in his preferred schedule. He also shared his excitement when he learned of the platform’s recent announcement about the 20 million pesos incentive program exclusively for 51Talk teachers this month.

Pia felt ecstatic and inspired since this is her first stint in interviewing candidates online. “It’s a humbling experience to interview such incredible candidates from all walks of life, to hear their unique stories and to witness how talented and passionate they all are,” shared Pia.

Towards the end of the show, Pia said she was moved after hearing the story of one of the candidates, Pearl, the flight attendant who borrowed her sister’s laptop just so she could sign-up to be a teacher at 51Talk. Pia surprised everyone as she decided to personally give Pearl a laptop to help her get started in her online teaching career.

“We see your hard work and we’re very sorry for what you’re going through as a young mom. I find you very engaging and who has so much potential,” said Pia.
Aspiring online English teacher Pearl became emotional when Pia Wurtzbach surprisingly announced she would give Pearl a laptop so she can start earning from home to support her family. Pearl was a flight attendant who lost her job but found hope in 51Talk.

“It’s such an honor to represent 51Talk as their brand ambassador and to be able to connect to thousands of Filipinos through this live stream. I hope it inspired them and gave them joy.”

Pia considers empowering Filipinos as her top advocacy, now more than ever when thousands of Filipinos have lost their livelihood due to the pandemic.
“I am encouraging all qualified individuals to sign-up and to seize this wonderful livelihood opportunity. See you in our next live stream!” exclaimed Pia.

Next month, 51Talk will be doing another round of interviews with a new set of candidates via their official Facebook page. To get a chance to be interviewed, showcase your talent, and have a #DateWithPiaAt51Talk, sign-up via 51Talk’s website at www.51Talk.ph.

Practical Parenting Hacks For Power Moms

Parenting is no easy feat; And providing the best for your child amidst a crisis is a challenge like no other. As parenting outlook and practices change, moms continue to power through in providing the best for their children. Because amidst hardships and uncertainties, a mother’s strength shines through.

For they are Power moms.

In a time when resources are limited, the wisest course of action for power moms is to be practical and madiskarte. Being on a tight budget is one of the many obstacles that moms experience, but it doesn’t mean having to scrimp on quality products for your children. Finding products that deliver baby the protection they need, while still being easy on the wallet, may not be easy, but it is possible.

This is why Pampers continues with its mission by providing superior products to support parents in keeping baby safe from ba-bad elements like pee, while helping them save more in the long run. From choosing practical quality products for baby, to finding creative ways to keep them entertained, there really is no innovator like a practical #PampersPowerMom.

To help promote baby’s continuous healthy development, we provided practical smart hacks for Power Moms to conveniently do at home.

Here are 6 practical smart hacks that allow you to continue providing the best for baby amidst a crisis:

Protect baby through practicing good hygiene while saving on hidden costs

Power moms know the importance of making a habit of good hygiene to help keep germs and viruses away. When baby’s sensitive skin is also kept clean and dry, it is also a good line of defense against skin discomfort and irritation.  It is important to use gentle products on baby that effectively cleanse yet does not irritate.

When cleaning during a diaper change, we recommend wipes that are gentle on the skin, and as mild as washcloth and water. With baby’s sensitive skin needs in mind, Pampers Sensitive Wipes is free from alcohol, Parabens, and Phenoxyl-ethanol.

For an ultra-soft and strong baby wipe, Pampers Sensitive Wipes allows less wiping without sacrificing good hygiene for baby, helping lead to less wipes uses and more savings.

Motivate and inspire hard work through rewards

Rewarding baby can come in many forms, and not just by buying them toys. Rewards serve as acknowledgements for a job well done. They provide an emphasis in good actions and helps baby to complete tasks.

Through makeshift currencies like paper money, you can reward baby for accomplishing simple tasks at home. A reward chart also provides a visualization of baby’s progress in completing a task. Reward charts can be a hand-written poster stuck on the wall or even a sticker chart on the fridge.

They can then use this hard-earned reward to “buy” snacks from the pantry or choose a movie to watch at home. Power moms know that introducing them to a reward system early on will show them the value of hard work and will hopefully teach them motivation to always work hard at any given tasks.

Use quality items to cut down on costs

At this time when health and safety are most critical, using quality products for your baby can help assure that they are getting the protection they need. This can be important for products that baby often uses, and those that touch their skin, like diapers.

Low quality diapers that can get lawlaw easily may lead to serious problems when baby’s skin is babad in a pool of wetness. Babies that experience babad are left with a breathing ground of bacteria, that could lead to diaper rash and skin irritations. What makes it worse is when their diapers are rarely changed.
Pampers diapers are less lawlaw* and can absorb pee across the entire diaper, so there are less chances of a babad diaper. It absorbs faster and does not get full easily leading to less diaper change, being a practical choice for more savings.

Tested by a #PampersPowerMom, Mommy Omni is thankful to choose quality products like Pampers.
“It gives me and Bryce the guarantee we need that our Zed is safe from being babad in a pool of wetness that can harm his skin. Iba talaga kapag less lawlaw!” She adds, “Since it (Pampers Diapers) is less lawlaw, I can change the diapers less in a day and so I save more.”

Caring for your baby is a tough job, that’s why Pampers provides quality products that help protecting baby easier for practical power moms like you.

Encourage creativity using household items

Power moms know that they can stimulate baby’s imagination with household items that can be as good as fancy toys. By using a flashlight, you can perform a shadow play show by turning the lights down in a room and striking a flashlight against a wall. With different movements of your body parts, you can make up so many characters that will keep baby entertained and thinking.

Release the inner painter by letting baby do water painting on a cardboard box. With only a tub of water, and cardboard boxes, let baby’s imagination flow with their hands at almost no cost.

Boost baby’s mental and physical development at home with zero-cost activities

Since summer classes and workshops are cancelled, Power moms turn into their smart and practical ways on how to keep babies learning dance, art, and even sports activities at home at no cost for mommy.

Let baby move freely by staging concerts at home through sing-alongs and doing various dance videos that are easy to follow. Utilize cookware as drum set, use a shoe box with tied strings, a hairbrush as microphone, and have your whole family act and rock out as a band to their favorite nursery rhymes.

Sports sessions are not cancelled at home with activities like hide and seek, pillow fights, or board or card games. Power moms know how resourceful that can be when the situation calls for it.

In partnership with Power moms all over the Philippines, Pampers holds “It’s a Mom’s Life” livestreams on Facebook where moms share insights on how they are coping through practical means and creating new habits while at home.
“#PampersPowerMom Hacks” content is also available at Pampers Lazada page, featuring practical ideas from experts and moms that families can try at the safety of their homes. Moms can access all of these at Pampers Philippines Facebook page.

For more smart hacks that you can do at home, visit Pampers’ Lazada page.

Through providing practical quality products, and practical hacks that families can do for their kids, Pampers aims to help #PampersPowerMom course through crises, in the smartest way possible.

UNIQLO 2020 Spring/Summer

UNIQLO and JW ANDERSON 2020 Spring/Summer Collection and Kids Line

Themed “British Country Style,” the collection from designer Jonathan Anderson is the first to include items for children. This new line brings together the functionality and details of LifeWear with his playful take on such traditional British patterns as gingham check and patchwork. Commenting on today’s announcement, Jonathan Anderson said, “I’m looking forward to seeing our latest collection with UNIQLO in stores. It feels new and fresh but still has our JW Anderson signatures. And with the addition of Kids there is really something for EVERYONE.”

The original collaboration line, launched in 2017 Fall/Winter, was developed on the theme of “British Heritage Meets LifeWear – British classics. Designed for life today.” The product offering combines the innovative designs that JW Anderson brings to Britain’s traditional apparel with UNIQLO’s commitment to fit, materials, and functionality.

Hana Tajuma For Uniqlo

HANA TAJIMA FOR UNIQLO is a collection that expresses the world’s rich cultural diversity with graceful forms and exceptional comfort. The partnership between New York-based fashion designer Hana Tajima and UNIQLO enters its sixth year in 2020. Drawing inspiration from nature, these universal designs with a unique discriminating sense incorporated in fine details and focused on comfort, warmly support the everyday lifestyles of all women.
Abandoning the conventional thinking of adapting bodies to fit clothes

Women’s bodies continue to subtly change with age and the progression to each life stage. The aim of HANA TAJIMA FOR UNIQLO is a collection that adapts flexibly to such body diversity, and gently supports the wearer. Rather than forcing bodies to fit into conventional sizes, these clothes flexibly change to match individual forms. The shift to this extremely simple idea frees women from stress and worry over clothing, and provides them with an element of strength to wear.

First Love – Remember the excitement of discovering the joy of trying on clothes
As children we secretly tried on adult clothing, rolling up the sleeves to fit, and gathering the waist and fastening it with a clip. The 20SS collection is built around such memories, the excitement of first discovering the joy of trying on clothing. An oversized trench coat cinched with a belt creates a graceful drape, while bottoms with a loose-fitting silhouette sway with movement, drawing elegant lines. The color pallette, centered on light yellow, comprises many calm hues taken from plant life. This collection offers an affable image of women as strong, beautiful, and full of life.

High-Rise Super Wide Jeans*
These new offerings employ lightweight denim to keep wearers cool even in summer. The wide silhouette makes it easy to combine these jeans stylishly for the season. The straight waist positioning accentuates leg lengths.

MEN’S
The key focus this season is comfort, from a wide through skinny styling lineup. We have updated our color range to encompass Ultra Stretch Jeans, which are incredibly comfortable despite being so slim.
Miracle Air 3D Jeans*
These jeans feature a three-dimensional cut that does not impede leg movements, and a stretch material that is 20% lighter than our regular fit tapered jeans to maximize comfort at all times, including for the most active people among us.

Also for this summer, must check is UNIQLOs UV-blocking apparel is specially treated to shield against up to 90% of rays. Just wearing these items provides protection without people having to think about it.
