Mommy Pehpot’s 24-Week Money Challenge + Giveaway!!

Inspired by the 52-week money challenge going viral on Facebook, I made my own money challenge..Mommy Pehpot’s 24-Week Money Challenge.

The 52-week money challenge does not work for.. err I usually have my allowance every 15th and 30th of the month.. that’s why my money challenge is set every two weeks.. every payday!

And to help me accomplish this money challenge, I’m planning to buy a coin bank today.. found some really nice and cute coin banks at Clipper Giftshoppe (san ba ang branch ng Clipper dito sa Pasig? Sarado na ang branch sa Ever Gotesco eh)

Who’s with me on this challenge?

Let’s have a mini giveaway!!!

I will be giving away 2 coin banks:

Design may vary but I promise it’s as cute as the one on the photo 🙂

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The giveaway will run until February 7 and will announce winner on the same day.. and to jumpstart your money challenge, I’ll be including 300 PhP on the coin bank for the weeks missed (January 15 and January 30), sure naman before Feb 15 nasa winners na ang coin bank nila 🙂

Money saving tip the typical bamboo coin bank which I always have every year. The last time I opened it after a couple of days i had an accident that resulted to a fractured arm was able to use some of it. Thou my wife told me about the “bad luck” of the bamboo coin bank.

I also started this money bank I saw this post in my IG friends but like you I will opt for a 15/30 since it will be our sked for payday. Aside from this money bank – to save will do some DIY for pampering myself or even for clothes/accessories saves money and enhancing my creativity!

Bilang isang ina madami akong kinokunsidera lalo na sa pag pag iipon at pagtitipid, mahilig akong tumawad sa bilihin pagmamalengke, kase sa konting tawad na un malaki ang nagagawa pag naiipon, may isang malaking bote kami na ginagawang alkansya, every pesos or coins we see to see na may maihuhulog kami everyday, then every dec. yan ang binabasag namin for christmas giving, naka ipon kana nakakapag pasaya pa.

I used to have a big mug on my working table in the office and every time I have coins or the change from buying food, I put it there. :))) I would collect it on payday or whenever i’m already on my allowance. 😛
But now that I became a mom, I forgot this technique tho, because of this post I think I’m gonna do that again. :)))

I usually do my grocery weekly. Date na rin with hubby and the kids yun. We buy our meat weekly para fresh pa rin so with the veggies. We check and list what we need to buy (family thing) every Friday night. That way, we don’t have to buy in excess of what we normally use or we don’t end up buying something na mali or di naman talaga kailangan. We dine out afterwards then go home and watch movies. So it’s like the saving you get from it is parang one regular meal sa house din na prepared mo. May bonding moments pa na libre which is priceless! You don’t have to go watch a movie sa cinema kasi we could do it at the comfort of our home. 🙂

At least kapag nakikita kong walang laman un atm ko hindi ako matutuksong gumastos. 🙂

I only started on the 1st week of this month (January), since I don’t have much time to find a piggie bank I looked for an empty peanut butter jar lying around and drop 50 peso bills per week. I’m planning to get all of the money by May, so I will have a birthday gift for myself! 🙂

Needs before wants. Sometimes, you only need self-discipline to be able to save money. Don’t fret, you’re still the one who’ll be spending the money. It’s just the money you supposed to spend yesterday becomes bigger the next day! And for a sure savings, my grandpa told me to save P20 everyday. Don’t dare miss one day so that when Christmas comes, you have a sure money you can spend on.

Tsaka na ung mga wants, pag meron na kaming extra money, avoid splurging on things we doesn’t need at the moment.

Prioritization is my key in making a great budget plan! I list down all the things that need to replenish for the month then I’ll buy only those that we commonly need at home. For me, I need to be a practical and wise consumer these days if I want to save more. Buying things during Mall Sale Event to avail great discounts is also a good way to save! If there were excess on our budget, I’ll allot it a portion of it for emergency use and if it still unused at the end of the month, I’ll save it and deposit it all on our bank account.

One of my savings technique is when i have to do my grocery, i’ll start by making a list of what we need
and make an estimate how much it would cost so that when i went out to do the grocery i only bring the money needed for that list and a little extra amount.

Whenever I go grocery, I always buy necessary supplies in bulk. I do save a lot through difference in price by bulk compared to per piece / smaller amounts and also the lesser trips to grocery store means more savings! I impose resource (water & electricity) conservation rule in my home. I also the follow the strict rule of “Income – Savings = Expenses”. I am saving a lot by doing these.

I place new money bills inside wine bottles and loose coin in wide-mouth jar bottles. The money bills are a lot harder to retrieve from the wine bottles (without breaking it) so I am able to control my urge to splurge on things I want.

I take advantage of the power of internet! If I want something that I have seen in the market or on TV— I get the brand, prices and exact specifications, etc, then I look for it in Online shops like sulit.com.ph or ayosdito, sellers OL offer products in lower price than those in conventional market. Of course Online buyers should observe more of things they buy because mostly these products don’t have warranties from defects.

I remember when I was in High School days, I made a coinbank from a milk tin can. It was a 1k Bearbrand tin can. I put a hole in the middle of its lid and put a glue surround it so it won’t be open by anyone. I often checked my coinbank and shaked it to see if its getting heavy or not. But when I tried to open it.. I was so shocked on what I saw… All my savings is gone and all see are nails!!!!

Chinese blood runs in my veins and that could be the main reason why as young as 10 I have already known how to save (in a bank) and have the love to do husiness. Whenever I receive a money, either from salary later on in life or as allowances when I still used to study, I used to takeout 50% of it and keep it. Then, when I do, I dont think about it and just assume that I throw ig away.i guess that’s where Filipinos fail. :)!

first on my list is SAVINGS.
