Cheap Calls To Philippines Using Libon

My youngest sister has been living in the UK for more than a year now. She moved there to be with her husband. They are planning to bring their only son to the UK next year.. To say we miss her terribly is an understatement. Last Christmas, we spent our first without her. We miss her laughs, doing crazy antics with her and all the things we shared with her. This Christmas will be our 2nd without her. We still miss her that much but thanks to smartphone applications for communication, we’re chatting with her more often.

Why my sister who lives in UK chose application to call back home?

Communication application for smartphones are the cheapest alternative for calling your loved ones at home when you’re living in a different country. It’s basically free! All you need to do is download an app and call anyone, anywhere, and anytime without the long distance/ international expensive call fees.

And when it comes to mobile apps for communication, my sister recommends Libon. It’s an application for Android and Apple Smartphone. You can download it for free on Google Play or AppStore. Libon is developed by Orange, the biggest telecom operator in France.
Libon provides very cheap calls, chat and voicemail applications.

Calls from Libon to Libon is always FREE. All you need to do is download the Libon App in AppStore or download the Libon App in Google Play, ask your relatives to download it too so you can enjoy cheap calls anytime, anywhere!

Aside from the free call using Libon to Libon, my sister really loves this app because she can make very cheap calls to the Philippines. As I have mentioned, her son is still here and they uses Libon international call when her son is not online. Yes, Libon can call to any Globe or TM number here in the Philippines! And the pricing is really cheap, I tell you! Libon calls to Philippines pricing is as low as 90 cents (Philippines Pesos) or 2 cents (US Dollar).

The rate is less than 1 Philippine Pesos per minute! No wonder my sister has been calling us almost everyday!

Want to call your love ones as much as you can like my sister does? Or Are you missing someone from abroad? Or missing someone here in the Philippines? Call them using Libon!

No credit on your Libon account? Don’t fret! I am giving away 10 Libon gifts pack which includes 1000 minute* free calls (worth €19.99)

Just tell me on the comment section who are the person you are missing (and wants to call) the most this Holiday!

I am going to choose winners before the year ends and winners will get their Libon credits on January.

*Subject to the country of residence the minutes may vary slightly

3 Tried and Tested Ways To Encourage Your Kids To Read More

When I say tried and tested, it means we’ve tried it and found the ways very very effective.

In the first place, Why Is Reading Important?

Reading is essential to learning. Educational researchers have found a direct relationship between reading and academic success. It’s as simple as “kapag marunong magbasa ang mga anak mo, more likely, mas magiging maganda ang performance nila sa school.”

Sabi nga ng isang friend ko, kahit marunong ka sa Math, kung hindi mo kayang basahin ang instruction, hindi mo malalaman kung ano ang isasagot. The same goes with people who does not like Math. They get along with the problems well because they can read and understands it very well. Hindi man sila marunong mag 1+1, kung naiintindihan nila ang problema, alam nila na ang sagot ay 2.

Educational researchers also found that there is a strong relationship between reading and vocabulary knowledge. A child who has an extensive vocabulary are normally good readers. And the best way to gain a large vocabulary is to read and read and read!

Kaya naman, even though my kids are good readers na, I don’t stop in finding ways to encourage them to read more and to really love reading. Ang hiraaap! Specially now that  gadgets are here, there and everywhere. Good thing my best friend is an educator  and she’s been a big help to me. She’s been giving me readings on effective ways to encourage my kids to read more.

Here are the 3 Tried and Tested Ways To Encourage Your Kids To Read More

Read with your kids

When kids are younger, we read books to them. In some of the studies I have read, reading to your kids at an early age is very vital in introducing reading to them. But we shouldn’t stop reading to them just because they already knows how to read. I have found out, specially with my 2 younger kids, that reading to them is a treasured moment for them. I think it’s the fact that they’re sitting very close to me that made them love the idea of reading with mommy. Natutuwa talaga sila when I read to them and I noticed na sila na ang nag i- initiate ng reading time namin.

Read a book and show to your kids that you’re reading a book

This one, my friend has been telling how effective this strategy is, pero lately ko lang napatunayan na indeed it is very effective. Top of the line na payo ito mga inay, kaya sundin nyo.

Kame kase ni husband are not book readers.. or we just don’t have that much time to read a book.. mali!! We have to make time to read (or kahit pretend lang) as we noticed when we read, the kids read too! Napansin ko yan when the husband starts buying work related books and reads it. Hindi naman sya sa harapan mismo ng mga bata nagbabasa but the kids saw him reading the book. Minsan sa labas sya nagbabasa or minsan nakikita lang nila si Daddy nila na hawak ang libro.

The kids, specially my two older boys are now into books! At ngayon, they want to buy books every week! Mahaliaaaaa!

CUE: 3rd way to encourage kids to love reading, pasok!

You guessed it right, those were the judges from the recently concluded Bloggys – Philippine Blogging Awards 2015. And that is why being one of the finalist is something that I am very proud of. I didn’t won the best blog in Family and Relationship category but helloooo out of 40+ blogs, my blog was JUDGED as one of the best in that category.

Baby Marius is peeking!

I attended the awards night last Saturday and really enjoyed the said event because of my fellow JUDGED blogger Tina of Truly Rich Mom (soon to be Truly Rich and Blessed). I also met fellow finalists Mommy Jhanis of Vanilla Housewife and Jenny of The Mommy With No Nanny.

#TeamBuntis for the win! Salitan sa pagkuha ng photos with our “awards” ayan tuloy wala kameng picture ni Tina na magkasama holding our plaques (naks!)

At dahil hindi naman ako nanalo, dito na lang ang speech ko.

Indeed, to be nominated is already an honor, it means someone believes in your blog, someone is reading your blog and thinks that your blog is worth the nomination. To be one of the finalists judged by known personalities who are experts on their field (journalist, digital marketer, top bloggers etc) is really something!

This will serve as my inspiration to write better and deliver more family oriented posts. Soooo thank you my dear readers for believing in me and reading my blog.

Blogging rocks!
