Halos lahat napansin ang biglang tubo ng mga black spots on their couches, cabinets, pillows, and even wooden doors. The reason? Moisture. With rain pouring almost every day, humidity increases inside the house, giving molds the perfect environment to grow. It starts small, but if left unchecked, mold can quickly spread and become a serious problem.

The Dangers of Molds at Home

Mold growth is not just about appearance or smell, hindi lang sya nakakainis tingnan at mabaho. It can actually affect your health and your family’s well-being. Molds release spores into the air, which can trigger allergic reactions like sneezing, coughing, skin irritation, or even asthma attacks. This is especially dangerous for children and those with weak immune systems. Aside from health issues, molds can damage furniture, wood, fabric, and even walls. Once they settle in, it becomes harder to remove them completely.

Why Do Molds Grow During Rainy Season?

The rainy season creates a damp, humid environment—exactly what molds love. Without proper ventilation, wet surfaces don’t dry easily. Moisture builds up inside closed spaces like cabinets, bedrooms, and storage areas. Add warmth and limited airflow, and you have the perfect breeding ground for mold. Wooden furniture, fabrics, paper, and walls absorb this moisture, making them easy targets for mold growth.

Solution for Molds Rainy Season: How to Remove Molds at Home

When molds have already started appearing, the first step is to remove them completely. Here are simple home solutions you can try and make sure that you are wearing a mask when you do these:

  1. Use white vinegar mixed with water. Spray directly on affected areas like wooden furniture, fabric surfaces, or walls. Let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping clean with a dry cloth.

  2. For pillows, couch covers, or curtains, sprinkle baking soda over the moldy area. Let it absorb for a while before brushing and washing as usual.

  3. For wooden surfaces, avoid using too much water. Use a damp cloth with vinegar and wipe gently. Dry it thoroughly after cleaning.

  4. After cleaning, always let the area air dry. Use fans or open windows to improve airflow. The drier the surface, the lower the chance of mold growing back.

  5. Use anti-mold sprays available in supermarkets or hardware stores. These contain ingredients that kill mold spores and prevent future growth.

How to Prevent Molds From Coming Back

Cleaning is just the first step. The real solution for molds rainy season is prevention. Here’s how to stop molds from returning:

  1. Keep your home dry. Wipe any spills right away, fix roof or wall leaks, and avoid letting water sit on surfaces.

  2. Improve air circulation. Open your windows when it’s not raining, and use electric fans or exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens.

  3. Place dehumidifiers or moisture absorbers like silica gel or charcoal in damp areas like cabinets or corners. Related article:

  4. Add indoor plants that reduce humidity. Certain plants can help absorb excess moisture in the air, making it harder for molds to grow.

  5. Clean your home regularly, especially hidden spots like under the sink, behind furniture, and in closets. Regular cleaning prevents mold from settling.

  6. Avoid overcrowding furniture to allow air to circulate freely. Molds grow faster in tight, poorly ventilated spaces.

You don’t have to live with mold just because it’s the rainy season. With the right cleaning steps and consistent prevention, your home can stay fresh, clean, and mold-free. Now that you know the best solution for molds rainy season, it’s time to take action and protect your family’s health and your home’s condition. Stay dry, stay safe, and stay mold-free.

Casting for Les Miserables Manila 2026 has yet to be announced, but we’re expecting a mix of international stars and Filipino talent in this upgraded version. For context, the 2016 Manila run featured powerhouse performances from:

  • Simon Gleeson as Jean Valjean

  • Hayden Tee as Javert

  • Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine (for the Manila leg!)

It’s exciting to think about who will take on these iconic roles this time around—and we’ll keep you posted once full casting is revealed!

Why This One’s Even More Special for Me

Back in 2016, I watched Les Mis in Manila while my sister in London, watched the show there, and we even exchanged matching souvenir shirts—one from Manila, one from London! (Read my throwback post here).

Now, almost 10 years later, I’m even more thrilled to watch it again. Back in 2016, I watched it with Kuya and Dico– maliliit pa sila noon and now that kuya is older and more theatre appreciative, mas exciting ito for sure!
