All Around Pinay Mama Is An All Around Business Woman Too!

My plan then was to feature 5 mommies who are not just bloggers but entrepreneurs as well. I realized I won’t do any justice to these mommies if I do that.. so now I am going to feature one mommy blogger per day and highlight their negosyo, more photos, more exposure, right?

Our first mommy blogger entrepreneur..

Sharon Joyce or SJ, known as All Around Pinay Mama, manages their printing and crafting business and writes about ups and downs of motherhood, make up, crafting and personal events on her All Around Pinay Mama blog.

Although we frequently chat in FB, I only got to meet her during the Mommy Bloggers Halloween Party. Napakawarm ng aura nitong si SJ, no wonder their business is doing good. I am sure most of their clients commends not only on their crafts but as well as how they were treated by SJ.

I also got to see some of their products during the Mommy Bloggers Halloween Party (they were one of the sponsors). Each mommies got an MBP ref magnet and a key chain! They also sponsored some pins and badges for the committee.

  • Name of Business: Known as FAITHSHOPPE (and sometimes Joyceski’s Biz) on Facebook
  • Contact Details: PM on Facebook: FAITHSHOPPE
  • Products: Personalized ref magnet, Personalized Key Chain, Personalized Rosaries, Personalized T-shirt, Corporate Giveaways (Basically, they cover anything about printing)

According to SJ, Faithshoppe is a  is a mother and daughter team, “I do the printing stuff, cord accessories, and marketing with the help of my husband during his free time while mom is in charge with the bead works. We are into printing and crafting business because of passion and fix clientele and ready market.” They started the business to gain more financial freedom and of course to be able to give more to their 2 kids, who are now both studying.

SJ said she made the right decision in staring their own business, “the endeavor answered one of our objectives and that is earning while spending quality time with the family,”

I asked Mommy SJ what’s her business secret, “Choose a business that addresses a need and which is aligned with your passion…Masaya ka na, kumikita ka pa, and you can spend time with your family. Starting a business is not easy- great anyway! It entails sacrifices- do it anyway! It will give you extra income- the more you have to do it. It will give you self-fulfillment and self-worth, as you continue doing it. The best part is, you gain friends.” she happily shared.

So this Christmas, for all your printing needs, you know where to go to.. (SJ, may silk screen printing ka din ba? hihi)

How To Know Your Child’s Intelligence + Twitter Promo (Flash Giveaway)

How far will you go to give your child the best? How do you boost his ‘intelligence’ to make sure he achieves excellence in more fields than one?

But when we say intelligence, what does it mean? Is it as simple as when your child got a high IQ test score, it means she/he is intelligent? So what about those (eherm eherm) that only got an average score on IQ tests? What are we? Not intelligent?

BIG TIME OUCHY no?

Good thing, (specially on our ego and to our kids!) Howard Gradner , Hobbs professor of education and cognition at the Harvard Graduate School of Education believes that intelligence is more complex than we think.

THANK YOU HOWARD GARDNER!

Howard Gardner, Hobbs professor of education and cognition at the Harvard Graduate School of Education believes that intelligence is more complex than we think. “It was generally believed that intelligence was a single entity that was inherited, and that human beings – initially a blank state – could be trained to learn anything, provided that it was presented in an appropriate way,” said Gardner in his landmark work Frames of Mind, The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. “Nowadays, an increasing number of researchers believe precisely the opposite; that there exists a multitude of intelligences, quite independent of each other, that each intelligence has its own strengths and constraints…”

Gardner’s theory eventually gave rise to what is known as multiple intelligence – simply put it is brain smart, body smart and people smart. The theory questions the idea that intelligence is a single entity, that it results from a single factor and that it can be measured simply via IQ tests.

So how do you know which intelligence your child exhibits? And what can you do to help them enhance it? Here’s a few guide:

So what do you have? brain smart? body smart or people smart?

Now, here’s the fun part!!

On twitter, tell me some activities you do to enhance your child’s multiple intelligence.

Use this format:

Mahigit Isang Kutsarang Disappointment (CASE CLOSED)

This is a rant.. if you are a regular reader of this blog, you know I don’t rant that much. Posts like 3 Reasons Why I Don’t Post Press Releases For FREE and How To Email Mommy Bloggers were posted under Blogging category and not rant category. Those blog posts were written to serve as guide.. but this one.. this is pure rant. Excuse the tone.. I am pissed.

September: I signed up to participate in the Lea & Perrins Kitchen Philippines Isang Kutsara challenge cooking and photo contest. Basically, we were asked to join the contest, blog about our entry, help them promote the contest and in return, we were given a small bottle of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce.

Less than a week after receiving the small bottle of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce, I posted my entry, blogged about the contest and promote it. This is the link to my entry:

My Lea & Perrins Isang Kutsara Challenge Entry: Chicken Adobo Sa Gata

As you can see, the entry was shared more than 100 times..at obvious naman na hindi bara bara ang entry ko.. kapalit ng isang maliit na bote ng Worcestershire sauce, ako ay nag prepare ng napakaganda at napakasarap na adobo..

But it’s not for the win.. I did that because I signed up to do that. Whenever I signed up for a blog opportunity, I always make sure that my part of the deal was done in the best possible way I can..

I did not expect anything.. and then I received this last November 1..

What? I didn’t even know voting started?!? When and how it happened?

————————————–EDIT————————————–

After receiving the text, I replied and asked if the competition will be held on November 5.. and they REPLIED back saying the main event will be on November 8..

————————————–EDIT————————————–

So there was a briefing on November 5 and the main event will be on November 8. Hmmmm 2 days?!? And you know my dilemma..I can’t just leave my kids and attend these events.. So I asked for my mom to be here on the said dates to look after my kids.

But they said they would give me a call.. and I didn’t receive any.. so before I announced it to the world, I asked the point person to verify.. and  VOILA!

IT WAS A  WRONG SENT!

This is what I got:

My bad, I copy-pasted your number to the other contestant’s number who qualified in the cook off. Please disregard the text.

And I flared up!

WRONG SENT? And why even bothered a reply that the main even will happen on November 8?!?

So kung hindi ako nag email sa kanya, para akong tanga na pupunta sa briefing at mapapahiya. GREAT!

The point person said MY BAD.. which is according to Urban Dictionary :

A combination of an apology and a dismissal. Basically, saying “oh yeah, I did that, but I don’t care”.

So I am not assuming when I say, she apologized, right?

Forgiven? maybe.. but not forgotten..

——————————————————————————————

Actually… there are so many thoughts on my mind right now with regards to how I was treated.. specially the way they handled the “disregard the text” part.. I don’t want to assume but it made me feel that they have little respect for bloggers..or maybe I am right.. baka kaya maliit lang na bote pinadala kase ganun lang kaliit lang tingin nila sa mga bloggers?

I should have known from the start.. warning sign na un eh…

What do you think? Sige gatungan nyo ako hahahaha

CLOSING ARGUMENT (wow parang sa korte lang)

This was an honest mistake, a little incompetence on their part maybe.. but it was nothing more than that. I was pissed because I thought it was done in bad faith because I am a blogger… because they think of me less as a blogger.

The point person replied again and said sorry..

My sincere apologies for this mishap 🙁

Your email actually helped us re-screen the numbers of the participants and re-check if there are similar cases. I believe it’s God’s wisdom that told you to send me an email to confirm about this.
I hope you understand also that the entry requires votes to get a chance to be qualified for the cook-off challenge.

Siguro, if I were the one who informed the cook-off participants, i would have not sent a text blast with no names. It would be more personal.

Again, my sincere apologies and I’m hoping for your kind understanding.

Humanap na kayo ng pang gatong at mag luluto tayo ng Adobo!
