Certified Loot Bags Addict!

Hello! I am Mommy Pehpot and I am a certified LOOT BAGs addict! I love loot bags, I breathe loot bags and I just can’t live without them.. that’s how addicted I am to loot bags..an event to me will never be complete without a loot bag.. without something to take home to..

Are we on the same boat?

Not convinced? here’s my proof:

Loot bags from Marco’s 5th birthday. The theme was Sponge Bob and I was rooting for a yellow and pink balloons, but I can’t find a yellow balloon so I settled for green. The loot bag was made of cardboard, rolled into a cylinder, candies inside then wrapped with a pink and green Japanese paper.. green for boys, pink for girls.

Sati’s 1st birthday.. no solo photos for the loot bags, but you can see it peeking behind the cake.. a usual sandwich brown paper bag, decorated with stickers and the name of the recipient.. Tinkerbell for girls and Peter Pan for boys.

Here’s another Loot bag stolen shot 🙂 can you spot the green paper bag? yes those are loot bags too. This time it was for Mahat’s 7th birthday party with Ben10 as theme.

This one is from my nephew’s 6th birthday last January.. our plan was to use brown paper bag as loot bags for the kids..but we forgot to buy some, creativity strikes in and from PR materials we made a really nice paper bag.

And here’s our latest creation.. from Marco’s Cars 2 themed 7th birthday (with a budget of 7000 Pesos only.. blog post coming soon!) I was planning to make a checkered paper bag, much like a race flag.. but it seems a very impossible task that time.. and since Cars 2 has red and black on it, this is what we got..

Our party will never be complete without a loot bag or something that our visitors can take home.. and my friends can attest to that, may it be a simple toy for the kids or a week’s meal.. I  live by with the principle that I should always be thankful for people who made an effort to attend my occasion..and not the other way around, hence I always make it a point to prepare a simple token to thank them.

My specialty is children’s party.. I always get high seeing the loot bags lined up and waiting for its recipient.. and then seeing the kids smiled as they opened it..ahh.. that’s so precious to me.. and I put much effort in making them and if time permits, I also personalized it. I know how it feels to get something with your name on it.. it makes you feel special.. and I want the kids to feel the same.

Chico’s birthday will be on May and as early as now, I am already planning the loot bag for his 4th birthday party..

see what I mean? I am a Certified LOOT BAGS ADDICT!

Magnum Ice Cream Experience

Been hearing a lot about this ice cream.. and when Madame tried it, I think I just have to try it too.

Lucky for me, the supermarket we frequent got this on their freezer but Almond is the only one available. Bought it for 50 PhP.

And as soon as we’re done paying the groceries, I took it out of the wrapper and uh well.. I want to say I started eating it immediately but nah.. I took a few seconds taking photos of it.

Let’s start with the price, at first at thought it was expensive, specially that my favorite Pinipig Crunch can be bought for a little over 20 PhP. When I opened Magnum Almond Ice Cream, I realized it was priced right. The serving is really big, not to mention the chocolate coating is very thick and eating chocolate and ice cream at the same time for 50PhP is actually cheap.

Yes, that’s exactly how I felt while I was munching on it.. it feels like eating my favorite milk chocolate while licking on an ice cream.. I love the chocolate coating.. for someone who spend so much on chocolates, I find Magnum Almond worth it… but the chocolate coating and the vanilla ice cream don’t mix together (something that I was expecting).. it’s like eating chocolate AND eating vanilla ice cream.. something that you can do by buying chocolate and vanilla separately.. well I guess I am used to eating the usual pinipig crunch where each bite seems to be a wedding of vanilla and chocolate coating.. But yeah, buying ice cream and chocolate separately is not as cheap as 50 PhP, Magnum Ice Cream is your cheapest and best alternative.

Will I buy Magnum Ice Cream again? Of course I will! I still have to try the other flavor, Magnum Classsic and Magnum Truffle.

Magnum Ice Cream has been around since 1989 (source) but it was only this year that Magnum is brought to the Philippines..

How To Clean Squid (Adobong Pusit Friday)

Dear Nanay,

Bakit napakasarap ng Adobong Pusit mo? sabi mo kagabi magpapayat na ako pero bakit nagluto ka ng NAPAKASARAP na adobong pusit?

Love,
ang matakaw mong anak

P.S.
mas masarap to kung nasa dagat tayo at sariwang sariwa ang pusit..

Adobong Pusit..t hat’s our lunch fro today.. and when I thought my adobong pusit is good, here comes my mother’s adobong pusit..

This dish is one of my husband’s comfort food (mine’s chili con carne.. one of the best I had was during a tour at Faith Academy.. more to that next week).. and though I never really liked the dish, I just have to learn how to cook it..today my mom cooked the dish as requsted by hubby. Normally, I would skip the dish but seeing I have no choice I took one bit.. and ohhhhhh paano nya nagawa yon?? bat sobrang sarap?!?

Sorry, no photos for today.. I know I really can’t be a food blogger, my stomach’s more powerful than my DSLR hehehe

But  I have something food and squid related to share to you this Friday and that’s How To Clean Squid:

Take out the head of the squid. Of course, you need to wash the squid first.

When you take out the head, look for the tint and carefully remove it.. leave it there if you love your adobong pusit black.

Next is to remove the teeth of the squid. On the part where the tentacles are attached, squeeze it a bit to expose the teeth, when you  locate it, squeeze it more to remove it.

Most squid have two, so better make sure that those are removed.

As for the Adobong Pusit recipe.. I still have to ask my mother and will share once I perfected it 🙂

was to sleepy after eating my mother’s pusit that I slept the whole afternoon and forgot about pallet rack, something that I need read.. now I need to exercise harder!
