POTW: SNUZA Mobile Baby Movement Monitor

When I was pregnant with my first born, I collected books about pregnancy, giving birth, breastfeeding and of course child care. One of the scariest word I encountered and made me worry so much is SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

What is SIDS?

SIDS is the sudden death of an infant under one year of age which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history. (source)

Can you imagine checking your sleeping baby then finding out that the baby is already dead? That’s the most heartbreaking scenario any mom can experience.. knowing that the baby was taken from them without a fight.. so sudden..

It can be prevented as experts still does not know what causes SIDS but the parents can do something to reduce the risk of SIDS. From American SIDS Institute, they listed things Parents-To-Be and Parents can be done to reduce it. Premature birth is a major risk factor for SIDS, so while pregnant, be extra careful and always see your doctor.
Smoking while pregnant can also increase your baby’s risk for SIDS.
The interval of pregnancies also plays a role on reducing SIDS, the shorter the interval, the riskier.
Babies sleeping on their stomach have a much higher risk well as baby who is over clothe.
Breastfeed babies have a lower SIDS rate.
Tell your caregiver (if you will be having one) about SIDS and how the risk can be reduced.

Another way to reduce SIDS is to monitor your baby, specially when sleeping.. see closely if they still breathe and be alarmed when they don’t. Be awake as much as possible.. but is that really possible? As a mom of four kids, I knew it is not.. you just can’t be awake most of the time and watch your baby’s stomach goes up and down as he breathes.

Provides the same mobility and ease-of-use as Halo but does not incorporate the rousing vibration function.
Alerts you if baby’s movements are very weak or fall to less than 8 movements per minute.
If no movement at all is detected for a period of 20 seconds, an audible alarm will be emitted to alert you.
The 20-second period can be reduced to 15 or 18 seconds if preferred.

Max’s Heartwarming Flavors for Lent

The Len season is observed here in the country by fasting, cutting back on meat and poultry and eating simple dishes..Max’s of course will always be there to provide us good food even during the Lent season. So here’s a set of dishes that’s perfect for this season:

Cauliflower Puffs (160 PhP).. if you are not a cauliflower fan, this dish will make you one. The puff is so perfect that it was too late t realized that it was a cauliflower.

Adobong Kangkong stuffed tofu (150 PhP).. I love tofu and this dish is my favorite among the three. I love how the flavor of the mushroom and the kangkong leaves was absorbed inside the tofu.

Sizzling seafood with honey bagoong sauce (265 PhP) is a winner too. The sauce was a mix of sweet and salty..perfect with a cup of rice and an ice cold cola.

POTW: Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner

I never heard of toy cleaner or surface cleaner that’s safe for the kids. I usually use plain water and soap to clean their toys.. of course that’s very limiting as battery operated toys can’t be cleaned that way. Aside from that, it can be really tiring. I remember last year, it took me almost a day to clean their Mega Blocs, a few more hours to dry it up. The discovery of Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner made a big difference in terms of toy cleaning.

I got it first when MomCenter send a bottle to me as a token for being one of their blog partner. That time, I gave the product one look and stashed it on our cabinet. When my husband gave in to the princess’ playhouse demand, Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner came in.

It would not be that easy to clean the little playground we have here and the rubber mats will also take a lot of time. After a day of riot and dirt here and there when I remembered the cleaner that Momcenter sent.

Cradle Toy and surface cleaner has no harsh chemical, no alcohol, no synthetic fragrance, no synthetic preservatives and yet sanitizes their toys and playground. How is that so? It has a natural Antibacterial Agent ffrom Honeysuckle plant, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Honeysuckle Essential oil and orange flavor.

I use it to clean and sanitize their Little Tikes Activity Gym, playhouse and Totter. I also use it to clean the rubber mat (and wash it with soap and water only once a month, reducing it from 4 times a month). I just spray the cleaner and wiped it with a clean cloth.

I haven’t tried using it to stuff animals and other soft toys but it says on the bottle that to use it with soft toys and fabrics, just spray it on the material and air dry. For battery operated toys, just spray it and wipe until the toy is dry.

I love the smell, so fresh and clean. There was a hint of orange and I really like it, not to strong.

Cradle Toy and Surface Cleaner can be bought in a 500 ml spray bottle for a little over 200 PhP (I’ll update when I got the exact amount). I bought mine from the Grand Baby Company Fair.
