Blogger Rate Card: 3 Easy Steps

I have been asked, not just once, by mommy blogger friends, how to answer a sponsored post inquiry. I am often asked “Ano ba ang isasagot ko?” And I usually answer, send them your Blogger Rate Card. Most of the times, they don’t have one.

Honestly, sponsored post inquiries or collaboration inquiries are a bit challenging to deal with. You want the project to push through but you also want to receive a fair amount for your effort. Let’s deal with the pricing later. Let’s deal muna with how to reply to inquiry emails.

I usually reply with “Please tell me more about the project/campaign.” This works well if the inquiry did not mention about honorarium. If they reply with the scope of work and still no mention of the honorarium, that’s the best time to reply with your Blogger Rate Card. I know, I know, you still don’t have one! Basically, that’s the whole point of this article babe, I am gonna teach you how to make a Blogger Rate Card and a little bit on the pricing part.

3 Easy Steps To Create Your Own Blogger Rate Card

Step 1. Blog profile and audience profile. Create a 2-3 sentences about your blog, mention keywords about your usual topics. Is it about kids in general? homemaking? Food and recipes? Your blog profile should be short. Save your long introduction for your media kit. Also ready your logo as it is an essential part of your blog profile.

AUDIENCE PROFILE? Who reads your blog? Are they homemakers? Mostly moms? What are the age range? It is important to list your audience because brands/ companies will hire you not just for your traffic but also because of your audience.

Step 2. Blog Services and Rate. List all the services you are offering. Here are some of the samples:

  • Sponsored post/ Branded content
  • Product Review
  • Giveaway
  • Long Term engagement (ambassadorship/ influencer)
  • Banner Placement

And of course, RATE. How do you give a price tag to a sponsored post? How about product review? Giveaways?

For product reviews, here’s how I deal with it: always depends on the product. If I like it, I do it for free sometimes.

Giveaway is hard work and time-consuming. When a brand asked to include a giveaway, sometimes I ask for extra.

BLOG SPONSORED POST RATE

Mahirap mag presyo mga mamshies! There’s always the dilemma na baka mamahalan sa rate mo or baka masyadong mura ang maibigay mo. And we all know blogging is NOT CHEAP. Here’s a very clear picture of How Much Bloggers Shell Out To Maintain a Blog.

How I came up with my price range? Based on the offers that I receive, averaging and logic. My price is negotiable but I have a minimum. My mimimum price is the lowest possible rate I can do a sponsored post. This is the price range that I am still OK to spend writing about the product and promoting it on my social media accounts.

What’s the minimum price for a sponsored post? A few readings suggest that 5000 PhP is a fair price base. It increases depends on your traffic and influence. If you have at least 5,000 traffic per month and total social media followings of 5000, 5000 PhP is a fair price for a sponsored post. If you have less than those numbers, improve your blog and work to achieve those numbers or more.

Step 3. Design your blogger rate card. Now that you have your profile, your list of services and rate, it’s time to design your Blogger Rate Card.

Design your blogger rate card.

Canva is the best place to do that. It’s an online editing tool that lets you upload your own image and it’s drag and drop. The fonts available in Canva are really nice too.

You can do it, create your very own Blogger Rate and Card as well as your own MEDIA KIT and start replying to those inquiries.

P.S. This is my usual reply, “Attached is my rate card and media kit for your perusal.”

5 Basic Grocery Shopping Tipid Tips

How much is your budget for your grocery? And how often do you go way over your budget? Eh bakit hindi? Ang sarap sarap naman talaga mamili sa grocery di ba? Specially when there’s a sale or may mga buy one take one promo. Or kung may mga promos like the recent HonestBee promo (500 off on your grocery). Nakaka tempt to go over your budget, to buy thing you thought are necessary but are actually not.

With my 5 Basic Grocery Shopping Tipid Tips, you’ll never go over budget on your grocery again, ever! I dare you to try.

5 Basic Grocery Shopping Tipid Tips

Tipid Tip #1: MAKE A GROCERY LIST. This is probably one of the most important tipid tip that I will share with you. Making a grocery list limits you from buying what you do not need. It also guides you to not forget the essentials in your house. Make a list and of course bring it when you do your grocery.

I wish there’s a grocery app which lets you make a grocery list, tracks your usage, lets you know when its time to buy and also have a price comparison. Sobrang bongga yan for us home makers no?

Tipid Tip #2: NEVER DO YOUR GROCERY HUNGRY. It’s tempting to just grab your bag, decides on eating at the supermarket and starts shopping. If you can’t eat at home, grab something before you start doing your grocery. There is a tendency to grab almost everything your stomach fancies when you do your grocery in an empty stomach.

That grumbling noise always win. That chips look delish! Oh I am thirsty! I could finish a case of coke! Fruits? Chocolates? I want them all!!!!

kebata bata eh nagpapabili ng Lipton! This is what happens when you bring kids to the grocery.

Tipid Tip #3: DO NOT BRING THE KIDS. It’s very tempting to bring them and see it as treat to them but do not give in to that temptation. It’s very tiring, you’re checking the list, making sure all your needs is in your cart and your trying not to lose your patient because, well, kids!

You can bring them, leave them at the arcade but then that’s another money you need to spend. And kids are always hungry, brining them adds up to your “eating budget”

Also, mga inay, this is our chance to unwind! Sulitin mo na ang bakasyong ito!

Tipid Tip #4: DO NOT GO OVER THE AISLE MORE THAN ONCE. Sabi ko it’s our chance to unwind, sulitin na natin but not to the extent na paikot ikot ka sa buong  grocery. More ikot sa asile, more chances of getting what is not on your list. Hinay hinay sa pagtutulak ng cart.

This tip also lets you spend the most minimum time inside the store. Based on study, the more time you spend inside the store, the more chances of winning, este losing on this tipidan game.

Tipid Tip #5: PLAN YOUR GROCERY TRIP. Still on the premise of spending less time inside the store, plan your trip so that you’ll be able to avoid the “rush hour”. More pila, mas maraming pagod, mas maramig gutom. Also, the more time you spend near the cashier, where premium products are placed, the more you are tempted to get at least one or two Cadbury (or Energizer, or that pair of toothbrush).

If you’re doing your grocery every payday, do it early in the morning and never do it on Friday evenings, hunger games ang peg ng mga tao pag weekend payday eh.

Gusto ko sana idagdag sa tip ko ang “look for the grocery with the cheapest SRP” kaso, I have my own favorite grocery stores and I don’t know if they have the cheapest SRP. Gagawin ko yan soon, grocery hopping and price comparing!

Be A Mommy Blogger: 5 Simple Steps

How to be a mommy blogger? Being a mommy blogger has a lot of perks. Free products from brands. Receiving products is one of the best perks of being a mommy blogger. I could not deny how happy I am every time I receive free Ariel, Safeguard of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Ang laking tipid sa gastos di ba? At the same nakakataba ng puso when you know you are appreciated by other people. Aside from product seeding, may mga blog events pa where a mommy blogger can attend and meet fellow mommies. And if you’re lucky enough or influential enough, may mga sponsored or paid posts that will come your way.

So how to be a mommy blogger? Before, I would usually say, ah being a mommy blogger is not that easy. It takes a lot of time to be one. But recently, I realized that I always answer the question thinking how to be where I am right now. I keep forgetting how I started, how I first open an email and a blog.. which, thinking about it right now, is quite really easy. Now I am reliving that moment and sharing with you some of the things I wished I have known back then. This guide will be easy but I tell you, very useful.

5 Simple Steps To Be A Mommy Blogger

Step #1 To Be A Mommy Blogger: Create A Blog Name

I’m sure you’re expecting me to say open a blog as step 1 no? That’s how I did it back then.. without even thinking what I would name my blog. Trust me on this one, you need to start with creating a name for your blog. I find, Mommy (your name) fitting for a mommy blog. A short phrase about your life is a nice blog name too.

Here are the names of top mommy blogs here in the Philippines (based on topblogs ph, not in particular order):

  • Mommy Pehpot
  • Mommy Levy
  • The Mommy Who Never Sleeps
  • The Misis Chronicles
  • The 24 Hour Mommy
  • My Mom-Friday
  • Mommy Lace
  • Manila Mommy
  • Shinning Mom
  • Mrs Mommyholic

See the pattern? Just by one look at their blog’s name/ title, you’d known instantly that these are mommy bloggers. Use Godaddy and Google as your tool when looking for a name for your blog. I suggest GoDaddy because later on,you would want your own dotcom. It would be best to know if the name you’ve chosen is still available as dotcom. I have to be honest with you, though some people opts for dotnet, dotph and the likes, dotcom is still most favored.

Step #2 To Be A Mommy Blogger: Create An Email

Now that your blog has a name, it’s time to create an email for your blog. It’s for branding purposes. I really wish somebody guided me on this one. Though easy, changing emails takes a lot of time. Your email should be the same as your blog’s name and use gmail. It’s very useful in the long run.

YOUR EMAIL SHOULD BE THE SAME AS YOUR’S BLOG NAME.

I use mommypehpot@gmail.com. From the list above (top mommy bloggers Philippines), My Mom- Friday uses mymomfriday@gmail.com as her email.

Step #3 To Be A Mommy Blogger: Open A Blog

Now it’s time to open a blog! Using your new email, create a blog at Blogger.com

What is Blogger? (from Wiki)

Blogger is a blog-publishing service that allows multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. It was developed by Pyra Labs, which was bought by Google in 2003. Generally, the blogs are hosted by Google at a subdomain of blogspot.com. Blogs can also be hosted in the registered custom domain of the blogger (like www.example.com)

So you use your email, create a profile, better to create a profile at Google+. Create a NEW BLOG, give your blog a title and address, which should be the same as your email, do not forget that.

For your blog address, if you want to use a dotcom address, you can do so. Here’s a detailed blog post on how to>> How to use your own dot com in your blogspot blog.

Step #4 To Be A Mommy Blogger: Design Your Blog

I’m thinking of skipping this part but I realized, a good looking blog is what pushes me to write. There are hundreds or even thousands of free templates for blogger blogs. You just need to remember this 3 things when you use a free blogger template:

  1. It should be responsive so that it looks OK on most screen size, mobile, tablet, laptop or big monitor)
  2. It should have a customizable header so you can change it to something that fits your blog and title (and yeah, taste)
  3. Avoid dark background with white or light text. It’s an eyesore. Go for something simple and yet elegant.

Here are some Free Responsive Blogger Template that I could use:

Check out Mommy Pehpot Facebook Page for the links where you can download free blogger template.

Step #5 To Be A Mommy Blogger: Write On Your Blog

Now that your set up is done, it’s time to start writing! So what should you write first? Where do you start? I find it a lot easier to start with outlining what will be the main topics of your blog. These 3 main topics will also serve as your 3 top categories and will be your guide when you write your ABOUT ME page.

Create your ABOUT ME page which should include short but interesting stuff about you, what you write about and how they can contact you.

Write some blog post and get ready to be called a “Mommy Blogger”
