LG G2 Review

Morning conversation with the hubby:

Mommy Pehpot: waah I super duper love my phone (saying this while busy editing photos on my new phone).. Thank you so much Daddy!!!

Hubby: oo nga eh, hindi mo na nga ako pinapansin..puro na lang phone mo..

Mommy Pehpot: Hindi naman no (gave him a quick kiss then back to my phone)

Eh how can you not love LG G2? It has everything that I need and a lot of bonus!

Some of you may not know, but my primary concern when buying a mobile phone is the camera (and of course the processor)..I can’t live with anything less than quad core. I am not that techy with specs, I just don’t like waiting 🙂

Actually, it took me a while before buying another smart phone. My HTC died on me last year (December) and it’s only a year old.. haays nakaka trauma lang..I was smart phone less for 2 months. It’s hard to decide which phone to get.. ang mahal kaya ng smart phone, tapos masisira lang agad 🙁 I was looking for a product that’s worth my money..I was tempted to buy a cheaper phone, but the hubby said no.. let’s go for quality smart phone even we have to shell a few more.. OK FINE! (sya naman gagastos eh)

He’s using Samsung Note 3 at parang gusto ko na rin sya.. but it’s too big for me.. the size and the price hahaha

A few readings on what’s the best camera phone and I decided I’d go with LG G2  (best camera phone list includes iPhone 5S, Nokia Lumia 1020 , Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1s, HTC One and of course LG G2). Out of all the brands mentioned, LG stands out the most, I want to try LG this time.

I won’t dwell much on the technical aspect of LG G2, I will just focus on the things I like about this phone:

The size and weight is perfect for me, not too big and not too small.

The camera is LOVE!!!

It has 12 modes:

and camera settings:

But what I like most is the editing software that comes with the camera..I can do so much with it!!

My very own photo editor! You can also tune  selective areas on the photo 🙂

It also comes with different looks:

And a software to retrofy your photos, called Retrolux. You can add frames using the Frames effect

Aside from that, there’s also Vintage effects, Drama effects, Black and White, HDR, Center Focus and Frames. All these effects comes with different styles. Ayayay! I can spend the day just exploring this area.

One reason why I almost said no to LG G2 is the rear keys. It  is located at the back, unlike usual phones where the rear keys are placed on the side. The keys include the home button and the volume, but since you can activate (and lock) the phone with a double tap and that almost all software (and games) has a screen volume control, I didn’t mind the peculiarity of LG G2.

At first, I had a hard time with the rear keys but as soon as I get used to it, I realized how functional it can be. I have more control with the home button being on the back.

The only thing that I don’t like with LG G2 is the screen capture, you need to press the home button and the decrease volume key together… and I do a lot of screen capturing..it’s just a minor thing though, not enough to make me love this phone less hihi

Oh by the way, Main camera is 13 megapixels with LED flash and  F2.4 aperture. The front camera is 2.1 MP (time for selfies! hahaha)

Camcorder is 1920×1080 (1080p HD) with Optical image stabilization.

Other things I liked about my new phone:

  • Battery does not drain easily (Battery saver is a real saver!)
  • Wifi reception is strong
  • Less hot (compare to my old HTC which is a quad core too)

Check out LG website to know where to buy LG G2 aka LOVE 🙂

Blog Migration: How To Transfer Blogger Blog To WordPress

Now, I remember what is it that I hate with Blogger.. I started with that blogging platform… tried WordPress and bought my very first domain there (lesson learned> cheaper to buy domain at GoDaddy or any other domain registrar, rather than buy it at WP or Blogger). During those times, WP is a headache, so I decided to transfer my domain to GoDaddy (expensive!!) and so I got my own domain while using Blogger as my platform.

The reason why I decided to transfer to WordPress was when I accidentally deleted 300+ blog posts.. the Blogger dashboard is not friendly to mistakes. I was trying to delete my drafts and didn’t realized that I was on the published post area… clicked delete.. and BOOM!!! Blogger did not even asked me if I am sure to delete those files…. argh!!!! It would have been easier if I have a Database access.. which sadly, Blogger does not offer 🙁

Before transferring to WordPress, my blog is already huge.. er not huge like it has a lot followers.. huge in terms of size.. imagine 300+ blog posts (not to mention photos). We tried importing the contents of my Blogger blog using the IMPORT tool available at the WordPress dashboard. It didn’t worked. So, my dear friend created a free hosted WP blog (WordPress.com..ah! I know what will be my next post.. WordPress.com VS WordPress.org) then import the contents from the Blogger blog. After that, using my new WP blog, she imported that content from the free hosted WP blog.. so this is what happened when I transferred my blogger blog to WordPress:

Blogger>> WordPress.com > WordPress.org

Enough blah blah, here’s How To Transfer Blogger Blog To WordPress:

First Step (I will make a detailed blog post on this one too.. complete with photos)

  1. Log on to your Blogger dashboard and export your blog so you can have a back up, just in case everything went wrong. Dashboard>> Settings>> Other>> Blog Tools>> Export
  2. Convert your Blogger Blog to its blogspot address. Dashboard>> Basic>> Blog Address ( revert back to blogspot domain)
  3. Now log on to your domain registrar, to change the nameserver of your domain. Change it to the nameserver of your host.
  4. Log on to your host and add domain in your cpanel.
  5. Install a new wordpress on your cpanel, install it with a www prefix (since your blogger blog uses a www)
  6. After the WordPress is installed, you can now see your blog on WP platform.

Step 2: Migration/ Transfer Process:

  • After successfully installing a WordPress blog, log in to your dashboard (www.yourblog.com/wp-admin)
  • Look for Blogger Importer plug in and install.
  • The Blogger importer is now located at tools:

  • Click import and click BLOGGER. Make sure that your Blogger account is logged in. Authorize the transfer and if you have many blogs under your blogger account, choose the blog that you want to import (then wait):

  • After importing your posts, comments and other contents, you might want to convert some of your tags into categories:  Import>> Categories and Tags Converter

  • Change the Permalink Structure, since Blogger blogs uses .html on their permalink where as WP does not.. To maintain this permalink all you need to do is change the structure. Go to permalink then go to Custom and put this:   /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

    • Also install a PERMALINK PLUG IN for tying loose ends. as pointed out by Sam, WordPress automatically delete short words such as “the” “a” in the title name/ post name)

And you’re done! Now, explore WordPress and install plug ins, I will publish my TOP Must Install WordPress Plugins next week.

EDIT: While trying to import some of old posts (to come up with an updated import-export tutorial) I didn’t noticed that FB post plug in was on.. my friends’ news feed were flooded with posts from a long time ago, which includes Scott Kay jewelry designer blog post and other press release posts. I hope no one blocks for that 🙁

Get Your Own Dot Com Even When You’re Using Blogger

I love WordPress because with WP, I have more control with my blog.. but when I asked around what blogging platform they prefer, most answered that they prefer blogger. Why? WordPress is complicated and Blogger is more user friendly. I cannot agree more.. I mean, yeah, WP requires a lot of tweaking to set up, unlike with Blogger, you just need a gmail account and you’re all set.

When I started blogging, I thought I can only have my own domain using WordPress as blogging platform.. well, you can use your domain even when you are using Blogger pala!

Here’s how to set up your domain with Blogger:

Buy the domain/ dot com you want at any domain registrar, I use GoDaddy, create your own account and buy the domain you want (if available). I just want to say that I never like other domain other than .com.. allergic ako sa dot net, dot org, dot info at kung ano- ano pa.. it’s cheaper but for me, it means not original (that’s juts me OK)

After buying the domain name you want (GoDaddy accepts credit card payment and paypal payment), launch the domain dashboard:

Click on DNS Zone File:

And then click EDIT

Add a record:

Write www, and then ghs.google.com

Now go to back to dashboard then click SETTINGS:

Manage the FORWARDING and do this step:

on FORWARD TO, type in http://wwww.YOURDOMAIN.com then click SAVE.

Now go back to your Blogger dashboard and go to SETTINGS:

Click ADD A CUSTOM DOMAIN>>> SWITCH TO ADVANCE SETTING >> ENTER YOUR DOMAIN (include WWW) and the click SAVE!

So what’s the advantage of having your own domain? ummm much like having your own name 🙂

And if you use your own domain while blogging at Blogger, transferring the blog to WordPress is easier, since the domain name will be the same, all the stats won’t change.. techy masyado?

here goes,

example, your blog is myblog.blogspot.com , all links, ranks are credited to this name.. when you change it to myblog.com, you lose all those credentials.. if you already have the myblog.com from the start and decide to change blogging platform, you won’t lose any credentials since you’ll still be using the same domain..

Next week, yan ang lesson natin ha.. How to Transfer your Blogger blog (with own domain) to WordPress without losing your juice links and ranks. Stay Tuned!
