Link Removals 101 (The Best Link Removal Plugin..so far)

If you’re into paid posting.. by now you’ve realize how stupid you are to accept a $5 link and then you’ll be asked to remove that link! Argh! Double the trouble! Take a deep breathe and remove that link ASAP! Link removals will do good on your blog! You’ll get rid of that cheap link and less stress dealing with the companies requesting for such. These companies tend to harass bloggers who won’t comply with their link removal request (it’s a request, dammit). I heard a blogger who got a demand letter and another one who was threatened that they will sabotage their hosting.. nyeee!

Link removal is easy.. the thing is, if you have more than 10 blogs and like more than 500 posts per blog, granted only half are paid post.. that’s 2500 blog posts!!! Who has time to manually remove links from that much blog posts? Certainly not you!

I have been searching for the bets plugin to use to remove links.. so far I only got a NO Follow plugin>>> Read everything about this plugin HERE as well as the difference of Do Follow and No Follow link.

A friend asked what’s the difference of Link Removal and No Follow Links..

  • Link Removal means removing the link, the text link will appear just like ordinary text.
  • No Follow link means the link is still there but the attribute is no follow.

In the world of SEO, a no follow link is almost the same as no link at all.

The latest plug in I found is called Outbound Link Manager.. before finding that plug in, Sir Ed Joven of Tech News PH mentioned the use of Broken Link Checker plugin to remove links.

It’s a nice plugin to check your blog for broken links and yes it can also remove links but it can be time consuming and the parameters I need is not offered on this plugin (like, what if I only need to erase links from a certain category or month).

So I found Outbound Link Manager Plugin!

Although this plugin hasn’t been updated for over two years, I still find it useful. Install and activate the plugin and start deleting links!

See what I mean?

You can delete links based on category.. so if you have a category for all your paid post, good for you!! this is the best plugin for you!!!!

But if you don’t label your paid post, the safest to do is delete all links from a year ago then make all the succeeding link a no follow link. Assuming that all paid links expire in a year, deleting them won’t affect your clients.

For links less than a year old, if your client complains for the no follow attribute, just remove it.

So far, this is serving its purposes, if only:

  • I have an option to display more than 10 links
  • I don’t have to click the “APPLY” button every time I need to go to a certain date or category
  • The plug in does not bring me back to page 1 (of the link list) every time I delete links from the last page. (HASSLE!)

I am trying this plugin with my other blogs.. deleting links is quite tedious than just adding a site wide no follow attribute, but it is worth it.

How about you? What link manager plugins have you tried? Please do let me know if Outbound Link Manager Plugin works for you too.

GOOD LUCK!

Nofollow Plug In For Unnatural Outbound Links

Last week, some bloggers received an email from Google stating that their blogs have unnatural links, here’s a copy the email received:

And because of unnatural links (which has been tagged as paid links/ sponsored links), Google has applied a manual spam action to their blogs.

What does Google manual spam action means? It has been observe that blogs that received this manual action got penalized with a PR0, this may also mean disappearing from search engine. YIKES! No blogger would want that!

As mentioned on the email, you can submit a reconsideration request provided that you add rel=”nofollow” to paid links.

EASY? yeah if your blog is relatively new and have 100 or less post.. 100 is still a lot no? The best way to do this is to install a NOFOLLOW plug in (if you’re in WordPress of course).

Here’s a tutorial if you’re using Blogger as a platform>> How to Make Nofollow All External Links Automatically in Blogger

The best NOFOLLOW plug in for me is Nofollow for external link. This plug in automatically adds rel=”nofollow” to all external links, while maintaining a dofollow attribute to all internal links.

External links> any links outside your blog (other blogs, website etc)

Internal links> any links inside your blog (old post, etc)

Out of all the NOFOLLOW plugins listed, this one seems to be the most effective. All plugs in have the same problem> it automatically nofollow all links, new and old. I choose this one because of the rating and user reviews.

If you’re creating a new blog post and requires  dofollow links, just add rel=”dofollow” to the link.

No Follow vs Do Follow

(from techpehpot.com)

Do follow links are links that is followed. That’s easy. Followed by whom? and where? Example, if your link is here in my blog and if it is a do follow link, the search engines will follow that link and will associate your site to my website.

A no follow link is simply a way of saying that a link should not be associated to your site. This is best done for sites that you think have malicious contents. So if you don’t wanna share your page ranks and all, use rel=no follow on your links.

In human terms, do follow means we’re friends and you know what they say about friends, tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are. And with no follow it means you are not friends.

Advertisers will always ask for dofollow link since they want the PageRank juice from a blog, but this is against Google’s Webmaster Guideline, as PageRank manipulation is a part of search engine optimization (SEO).

How To Disable Word Verification (Captcha) On Blogger Comment Section

Can I tell you a secret? As much as I love blog hopping and leaving comments, I can’t stand Word Verification AKA Captcha. Simple math problems (like addition and subtraction) for captcha is OK but with multiplication and division, give me a calculator! haha The worst of its kind is the one from Blogger blogs. Like this one:

It strains my already strained eyes! I tell you, that one is good looking, I have encountered some captcha that almost took my eyeballs out! Yikes!

So please blogger friends, give the blogging world some love by removing or disabling your captcha. Here’s how!

Go to your dashboard> www.blogger.com

Click on the blog that you want to edit (if you have many blogs). Go to settings then post and comments section:

How To Disable Word Verification (Captcha) On Blogger Comment Section

Who can comment?

If you want to include NAME/ URL option on the comment section, choose ANYONE can comment, bad part is, even anonymous can comment. For me, it is still the best option because in a way you are giving back to the bloggers commenting on your blog by letting them leave their links through the name/ url option.

Comment Moderation?

If you’ll be disabling CAPTCHA/ word verification on your comment section, please make sure that you moderate comments ALWAYS.

Show Word Verification>> NOOOOOOOOO (please… please.. pretty please)

Some people enable the word verification to prevent spam comments but since you can moderate the comment, that would give you an option.. but I know, it sucks to delete hundred and hundreds of comments.

So folks and dear blogger friends, that is why WordPress rocks better than Blogger! hahaha
