Enjoy More Guiltless with Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa

I recently attended an online event from Mekeni Food Corporation, entitled “Enjoy More, Guiltless.” The event features Regina Latt, Senior Dietitian at the St. Luke’s Medical Center; and Chef Vince Garcia, President and CEO of Chef Vince Garcia Culinary Group to help moms on how we can serve healthier yet easy-to-prepare foods.

I really enjoyed the cooking session with Chef Vince. He shared a nutritious recipe using Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa as the main ingredient called Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa Casserole. From the looks of it, I think this is something that my kids will like.

Before the event, I was also able to share a recipe using Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa as the main ingredient. I prepared Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa Creamy Pasta. It was actually a left over from our breakfast and made its way to the snack table.

It is so simple that even your kids can prepare it. The ingredients are cooked and sliced Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa, crushed garlic, thinly sliced onion, pasta cooked according to packaging, all purpose cream, salt and pepper.

How to cook Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa Creamy Pasta:

  1. Saute garlic and onion.
  2. Add Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa and stir for a few minutes.
  3. Add a pack All purpose cream.
  4. When the sauce starts to simmer, season with salt and pepper then toss the pasta.

I usually serve mine with crushed pepper and parmesan cheese.

This is actually my first time to try Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa and though at first I thought it would taste bland, surprisingly, it is very tasteful. I learned from the online event that Gluten is not new.

“It is always present in the grains that we know like rye, barley, and wheat. It’s in products like bread, sauces, condiments, salad dressings, pasta, pizza, processed foods, beer, and in meat products that are processed with extenders and added flavorings or colorings.” Senior Dietitian at the St. Luke’s Medical Center, Regina Latt explained. She noted that following a gluten-free diet may help in losing weight, reducing total caloric and sugar intake, managing diabetes, and reducing bloatedness.

“It is important to note, however, that for any diet concerns or any diet changes that you would like to do, it is important to consult with a doctor or a licensed nutrition professional to help you with that, especially if you have existing medical conditions,” she said.

Knowing about it, I am now more open to include gluten free food like Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa  to our grocery list. Speaking of, you can get your Mekeni Gluten-Free Chicken Longanisa in 250g and 500g packs in leading supermarkets, wet markets, online stores, and Mekeni’s Home2Home delivery now and share your winning recipe in the Mekeni Guiltless Cook-Off!

All Natural Seasons Juice Review

As I have always mentioned on my plant vlogs, wala namang masama kung makiusuo ka, or be updated with the latest trends. Do what makes you happy but of course without sacrificing your budget and most specially your health. Nasabi ko yan because I was like that when it comes to fruit juices, noong nauso ang mga fruit juice in can few summers ago, ang dami ko binili! Kase the flavors are really enticing only to realize later that their common ingredients is sugar! Kaya pala iba ang tamis niya.

I stopped buying fruits juices for a while because of that. But we do really love drinking something with a different taste and as much as I want to make fruit juice out of real fruits  (or vegetables), my schedule won’t permit. Good thing we discovered a fruit juice that is not only has the freshest ingredients, healthy and natural pa.

Remember my guiding principle when checking the ingredients of products that claim to be healthy and natural article? When I first heard about All Natural Seasons Juice, yan ang una kong ginawa, check the label! And here’s what I found out:

  • Check the first 5 ingredients. Usually the first 5 ingredients make up the largest part of the food component.

All Natural Seasons Juice first five ingredients are

  1. water,
  2. clarified pineapple juice concentrate
  3. pineapple juice concentrate
  4. banana puree
  5. ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)

Other ingredients are Stevia, natural flavor, VItamin E, and VItamin A. Based on our guiding principle, upon checking the label, All Natural Seasons Juice first five ingredients are all natural!

  • If an ingredients list is longer than two to three lines suggests that the product is highly processed. Pag mahaba, magduda ka na.

Second guiding principle, check the names of the ingredients! If it is two to three lines long, that suggests that the product is highly processed. Upon checking All Natural Seasons Juice list of all ingredients are short and we understand/know it all.

  • If an ingredient is hard to pronounce, it might not be good for you

Last but not the least and the easiest to remember, if the ingredients is hard to pronounce, it might nor be good for you. Kumusta naman ang mga ingredients ng juice natin? All Natural Seasons Juice ingredients listed are so easy to pronounce!

Indeed the  freshest juice with natural ingredients is All Natural Seasons Juice.

Syempre dapat pasado sa mga kids ko specially to my teens. Sa totoo lang with the new normal, I am having a hard time with my teens in terms of managing their health. They are busier now that school are starting, busy with school activities, also busy catching up with friends (online of course).  To keep up with their busy lifestyle and the fact that they love drinking flavored drinks, I gave them All Natural Seasons Juice. At pasado ang lasa sa mga teens ko! Medyo kinabahan ako kase all natural ingredients baka they would look for something sweeter, surprisingly, they love the taste of All Natural Seasons Juice Pineapple Banana Juice. Bagay din daw na shake!

Taste test, passed! How about the price? Knowing that is all natural, we can’t help but worry about the price. Minsan kase pag all natural, mas mahal di ba? Mura lang pala! I mean, I did not expect the price range being 70+ Pesos per L. Nagualt ako honestly. I was expecting it to be at 90+ Pesos range knowing that the ingredients are all natural. And it’s now available at at leading supermarkets and leading online stores!

It comes in different flavors, https://www.facebook.com/allnaturalseasons/ and https://www.instagram.com/allnaturalseasons/ kung anong flavor ang bagay sa family nyo.

Sa panahon ngayon talaga, very important that we exert more effort in giving the nutrition that our kids need to be healthier. At syempre dapat in check din ang bugdet, kaya naman let’s invite other moms to the same. Sama sama tayo and invite them to join our mommy movement- #PledgetoDoubleCheck

No Cost DIY Plant Humidifiers

Plant humidifiers, we don’t usually hear about these because our country is humid already, and most of the plants around us aren’t that high maintenance. You can leave them outside your house or put them in one of the corners of your home, and they are good. But some special plants prefer high humidity. But we could always use a humidifier! Not only does it help to ease colds and cough congestion, but it also helps these unique plants thrive!

Using a humidifier is the most efficient way to make your indoors more humid. It is portable. You can put it in a small room or the living room to add moisture inside the house. But keep in mind that there are different humidifiers that you will find in the market. But what are they? And which one is ideal for our plants?

2 Types of Plant Humidifiers

  • Cool mist humidifier that uses ultrasonic vibrations to scatter a cool mist of water in the air. Some humidifiers use a disk that is submerged in the machine that is rapidly turned. As it moves, it breaks up the water into tiny particles that can be inhaled or make the air in the room cooler. Adding aromatic oils while using it will remove the bad odors.
  • A steam vaporizer or warm mist humidifier using electricity to power up its heating element. Inside, it boils water and creates steam. Of course, the steam cools down before it leaves the machine and enters the air. You can also inhalants like Vick’s Vapors but shouldn’t be done for kids or babies. This humidifier is also ideal for our plants that like high humidity. But you have to put it far away from your plants because the warm steam might damage its leaves.

What if I don’t have a humidifier?

Don’t worry! We got you! You don’t have to buy a humidifier just so you can provide your special plants a nice high humid space in your home. You can always do this “Do It Yourself” plant humidifiers and save those cash so you will be able to buy more plants in the future!

  • Grouping your plants or putting them together in one corner of your garden can help maintain lower water loss because as a plant loses its water, another nearby plant will absorb it. It will be like a miniature rainforest in your garden.
  • You can also do a double potting. It is where you put a pot of your plant on top of the bigger pots that contain wet soil. Or you can also add peat moss because it will add more moisture in the air around the plant.
  • Bathrooms and kitchens are some of the good places in your home where you can also put your plants that need more moisture. These corners of the house have higher humidity because that is where we use water frequently. But the bathroom has the highest humidity, so it is perfect for you tropical plants that thrive in a humid environment.
  • If you have pebbles, put it on a big plate and fill it with the right amount of water. Then put your potted plant on top of it.
  • Putting a cup of water next to your special plant is good too. And the bigger the plant, the more water it needs.

You might have noticed that I didn’t include “misting” in my DIY Humidifier listing. According to research, misting doesn’t add more humidity, and it might lead to other plant problems such as the spread of pests and pathogens.

So, you see? You don’t have to go out so that you can boost the humidity in your garden, and it’s free! If you have plants that have brown or drying leaves, now is the time to try doing one of those DIY humidifiers and make your plants happy!
