Humor Has It

There is no other way to survive a tragedy but through humor. Here are some that made our day or the day after. Surely these funny experiences we had can make us forget what Ondoy did to us.

Saturday afternoon when the flood hit the house and there is no electricity, the signal was out too. I was trying to send a test message to my mother and instead of the word help, I typed in GTGB. My sisters said they go the message Sunday morning and was more than worried because of the test message, does it mean, GOT TO GO BYE? It was hilarious to think about it now, we were laughing hard as they relate it to me, they thought we were all dead and it was our way of saying goodbye.. LMAO

During the time when the flood started to raise, our neighbor asked for help and knowing there is a one year old baby there, told hubby to give them the rubber boat. I never imagined that he would swim and help them too. He was on my pajamas then. Then another neighbor asked for help. After an hour or two saving our neighbors, he failed to save my pajamas, he went back with undies only (and now that is something to be glad about.. that the water is already human deep… nyahaha)

Local TV network shows a series that is focused on Jesus and his kindness and acts and all (Jesus is called Bro in this series). My first born, told my second son, pray to Bro and ask for help. After a while and the rain did not stopped, both concluded, Bro is not real.

Sunday when something in the news caught my family’s attention. It was reported that an 8th month women gave birth to a baby girl in the hospital near us. It was such a coincidence that the girl looked like me, acts like me and had the same hair as mine. I am also on my8th month and we are expecting a baby girl. What saved them from worrying that much? my boobs… my sister told them that it cannot be me as the lady in the news does not have the same size as mine.. (sigh)

My helper have a Havaianas slipper (and I don’t have a pair..poor me).. It was a gift from her boyfriend. And though the water is human deep, she swim for it and saved it.. LOL

Now we can laugh again with a more genuine laugh.. wahaha

Goodbye Ondoy

After the Ondoy’ wrath, there is still much to thank about. For one, we are all alive and that’s more than enough.

To my family who never stopped, praying, worrying and doing everything they can, my heart swells. To my aunt who looked for us (and even my father), it was overwhelming. To my in laws who even went out of their usual just to help us clean the mess, I cannot say how thankful I am.

To all my friends who flooded and abused social networking site for us, I will poke you everyday (LOL, thanks guys!). To all who commented and pass by my blog and wish for our safety and offered some help, you made me feel that amidst our geographical differences (and the fact that we have never seen each other) we are friends..

To Exist people who never stopped showing their support (and to Chico’s grandfather), pehpot wants you to know how thankful we are.

Almost back to normal now (except for the car..)

Ondoy: Signal #3

The aftermath.

Monday morning and the water finally subside to a more tolerable level. First thing first, hubby went outside to buy some food. After an hour or two, he went back with a sumptuous meal, RICE and hot soup. Finally! We acted as if we hadn’t eaten for years. And the worst part is about to begin. The cleaning. The mess that Ondoy left was unbelievable. It appears to me that everything is a trash. There was nothing left downstairs.

Aside from the physical mess, we also had to deal with the trauma and the emotional scar it left us. It was unexpected. Something unexpected and unbelievable happened to us and it would take some time to forget. The kids were also traumatized. The fact that they were not a about to eat for days was enough. Now, a slight rain can make them snap and ask if it there is flood again. It was really hard dealing with it. I can see fear in their eyes…
