Quarantine Ka Lang, Sanay Akong Nasa Bahay

“Quarantine ka lang, stay at home mom ako, sanay ako lagi sa bahay.”

That was my initial thought during the quarantine. I can do it, I am trained to do this. I have been doing it all my life. Stay home? Sisiw yan sa akin! And so the first few days during the quarantine seemed ok. Akala ko lang pala yun. As the days goes by, it dawned to me how challenging it can be. First, all my kids are at home 24/7. It was a never ending list of household chores to finish. Literal na walang katapusan. I am a mom of 5 kids and I know ginusto ko naman ito, pero tao lang nagagagod din.

“Kapag sinabi ng nanay na pagod siya, hindi ibig sabihin ayaw na niyang alagaan ang pamilya niya.”

I can relate to all other moms out there who for a moment or so feels like they need to take a break but is guilty of doing so. Guilty that their family might think that she no longer wants to take care of them. Guilty that her husband might think that she is no longer happy with her happy. So many to be guilty about that we just brushed off our tiredness. But we really need to take a rest, to take a break and wanting one does not mean that we love our family less.

Grocery time is what we usually consider our break time. A time away from our kids, a time to recharge, tapos nawala yun because of the quarantine. Yung akala mo madali na quarantine because you’re stay at home mom, turns out to be harder than it is. That’s how I felt 2 or 3 weeks after. I feel like a prison. I feel like I need to breathe.

“You cannot pour from an empty cup.”

The moment I felt like I was a prison, that’s when I started to overwork myself more. I feel like it’s the theraphy that I need. Maglinis, be productive. At first it seems effective, I forgot the feeling of being held against my will. But then I noticed how it affected my relationship with my kids. ANG SUNGIT KO NA PALA!

Yes, the house is clean, there is always food pero wala ng lambing. I don’t feel the need to go out but I am not happy, specially my kids, I can see that they are not happy. I realized I am giving too much that it left me empty.

I started seeing what I am lacking, and that is to understand that I cannot do everything and I need all the help I can get. From having to do all by myself to teaching my kids to clean the house, vacuum the carpet, water the plants, leads me to have more time to appreciate not just my rest time but our bonding time as well. Mas marami kaming time sa isat isa when we do things together.

“Kindness is Everything”

During the time that I was feeling lost, I realized that even the happiest people can really feel down. Doon ko na realize how important it is to show kindness to everyone. Na sa likod ng mga ngiti ng bawat isa, sa likod ng tawa at halakhak, sa likod ng magandang profile photo, there is maybe a sad mom, or a person suffering from this quarantine and the pandemic. You really do not know kung ano ang pinag dadaanan ng isang tao so always be kind.

“Hindi lahat ng tumutulong ay mayaman, yung iba mahirap din, dahil ramdam nila ang kapwa mahirap. Ang tawag doon ay malasakit.”

And when you see people who they really are, what they really are, you started to realize that there is something you can do to make their lives better. Dahil sa pandemic, natutunan ko that I can always do something to help people and through my page and my blog I was able to do that through my Live series and projects that help other people. Through my youtube, I was able to help give information and at the same nakatulong na i promote ang small businesses.

And though people may think na malaki ang tulong ng mga vlogs ko to promote mga small business, mas malaki ang tulong sa akin.  Kase through that, naramdaman ko na oo stay at home mom ako pero nakakatulong ako. Kahit nahihirapan ako, I can help people through my online platform. That’s the best realization sa akin ngayong quarantine, we can always do something.

5 Tips To Help Your Elderly Parents Fight Loneliness

Most elderly parents prefer to live in the sanctuary of their homes. However, family members may feel unease with that idea, especially if their senior loved ones have no one to look after them. Not only do we feel like it’s not safe for our aging parents to live by themselves, but the fact that loneliness can affect both their mental and emotional well-being.

We only want what’s best for our elders, and there are a couple of things you can do to help ease senior loneliness.

Always find time to interact with them.

There is nothing better than having quality time with your loved one. For seniors, since they are now retired and have lots of time to spare, social isolation becomes quite common, so make sure to make it a point to interact with them as often as you can.

Set up dinner dates and family days, and don’t forget about special occasions. Call, text, or message them as often as you can. Our hectic schedule should never be an excuse.

Take them to events they would surely enjoy.

You know what your senior wants, and if you don’t, you can always ask them. Getting them out of the confinement of their homes to do things they love doing will lift their spirits and take the loneliness away, even for a couple of hours. Make sure that all activities are safe and that they can handle whatever event they are about to attend.

Give them a wonderful gift of life.

What’s the best way to combat loneliness? Get them an excellent pet they can handle and take care of themselves! Is your aging dad a dog lover? Why not get him a dog? Is your mom a fan of cats? Then maybe it’s time to give her a cat of her own.

Pets are capable of giving humans a sense of purpose. If you get your senior family member a pet of there, they will have something to look forward to every day. Make sure to pick an appropriate pet – like a well-behaved dog, and they can enjoy the many benefits that are both fun and rewarding.

Teach them how to use gadgets and the internet.

With all the technological innovations we have nowadays, you can do many things with just a couple of taps and clicks. Consider introducing your older loved to social media and teach them how to use gadgets. It can be a great distraction, plus they can easily maintain a connection while opening up a whole new world to them.

The Takeaway

If you, as a young and robust adult, can feel lonely sometimes, imagine how much more can your elderly parents must be feeling right now. Don’t let them experience loneliness and isolation when you can do something to ease their pain. If only we take some of our precious time to call, visit, and get someone who can take care of them while we are away, they’ll be a lot happier, healthier, and safer.

5 Ways To Make Your Life Easiest This Holiday

December is the busiest month of all and everyone knows that, especially us moms. We are the busiest during the Holiday season as we try to make everything perfect as the New Year approaches. We budget our money, our effort, lalong lalo na ang oras natin. There is just so many things we need to accomplish. It can be overwhelming to us, the ones that are expected to make this New Year Celebration happen. And that is why I want to share with you 5 ways to make your life easiest and less hassle (at less pagod) this holiday season.

5 Ways To Make Your Life Easiest This Holiday

Make a systematic gift list

I know you will agree that this is the task that requires the greatest effort this Holiday. With so many people on our wish to share our blessings with, medyo hassle na di ba. As for me, a systematic list works like magic. I create a list depending on the degree of relationship. With this kind of list, wala ka talaga makakalimutan. And then each list was divided based on age and gift category. As much as possible, I shop all I can in one go. You can check our Christmas Gift List here.

Make Online Shopping Your Holiday Partner

And when you are done with your systematic gift list, it is time to shop. With the traffic these days, sino pa ba ang kakampi? Online shopping syempre.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your tita or lola, check out Rustan’s Bath and Body collection. Get the best deals on beauty products and make up products at VMV Hypoallergenics. If you run out of meds, pwede ka din mamili online sa Rose Pharmacy (rosepharmacy.com). And all these online store mentioned, you can pay with your mobile number. Just click the Pay with PayMaya button sa check out page of the stores mentioned. Hindi mo na kailangan i memorize ang mga details sa debit/credit card mo because you only need to log in to your PayMaya account by entering your mobile number.

Personally, my favorite online shopping experience is shopping at Landers Superstore using PayMaya. Ang mga panghanda and Ham for Media Noche, I can easily order online through Landers and pay using PayMaya.

After adding to cart my grocery staples and Holiday needs, I just choose Credit/ Debit Card by PayMaya and click PLACE ORDER

I just tap the PAY WITH PAYMAYA button.

Nag log in lang ako sa PayMaya account ko using my number, verified the transaction with OTP (One Time Pine) sent to my phone and paid for my purchase.

Shopping online is not just made easier with PayMaya, mas masaya pa because may cashback! Pwede tayo makakuha ng 1%, 10%, or 100% cashback tuwing gagamitin natin ang Pay with PayMaya sa ating online transactions (max. P500 per transaction) sa participating online merchants from December 11, 2019 to January 15, 2020.

Order Food

Order food for unexpected visitors/ sudden party. Don’t take it upon them for not telling you that they are coming without notice. Let’s not dwell on that. Instead make it the most cheerful possible experience for both of you. Rather than stress yourself thinking what to cook for them, just order online. This happened to us not just once, but more than twice already. And thankfully, ordering online for a pizza is super easy! May libre pa if you have Shakey’s card.

Rent a Car

Holiday is also the time that most of us travel or visit our relatives. Transpo can be challenging di ba? Why not just a rent a car through your whole day of visiting relatives or delivering gifts to your loved ones. Drive Manila is a car rental company which also offers self drive cars.

Book a car and pay using PayMaya by downloading Drive Manila mobile app:

  • iOS – http://tinyurl.com/driveph

Pay your utility bills online

Sa sobrang busy natin, paying bills is a task we tend to forget. Eh paano naman kase, paying your bills takes a lot of effort. Mag ba-bra ka, lalabas at pipila. And with so many things you need to accomplish, hindi mo afford ang pumila. You can’t pay online because it requires a credit card, which you don’t have. Pero alam nyo ba, paying for your bills online is now possible because of PayMaya. You can do it inside the app, no need to get out of the house.

As on-the-go moms, it’s really important to be efficient in all our tasks. I can say that going cashless has made my household tasks more convenient and rewarding, than paying with cash. Kaya, now is truly the best time to have your own PayMaya account.

Download PayMaya app now at gamitin nyo ang referral code ko na PEHPOTPAYMAYA when you sign up to earn P50 on your account. Don’t forget to upgrade your account to receive this reward. Visit paymaya.com/deals to get to know all their other sulit offers.

Basta mommy duties, don’t pay cash. PayMaya!
