Shopwise 21st Anniversary 2100 Pesos Shopping Challenge

How often do you do your groceries? Once a month? Twice a month? Every week? When do you usually do your grocery? Most moms I know do their groceries on a weekend. It has become an integral part of their weekends, making grocery time an actual bonding time with the family.  And that is also the reason why we grocery with the whole family from time to time. Some of my fondest grocery memories with my kids are eating after doing the grocery or eating inside the grocery. And there’s only one place that we can all think of, that gives us that kind of bonding/eating/grocery experience, Shopwise, ano pa nga ba.

We do really bond over food, kaya nga when checking out Shopwise 21Tastic Treats for their 21st anniversary, ang una ko talagang chineck, mga pang ulam! And to greet Shopwise Happy 21st Anniversary, I made my own challenge: Shopwise 21st Anniversary 2100 Pesos Shopping Challenge

Akala mo pang catalogue lang yung mga discounts no? Hindi mga momsh! In real life talaga yung mga discounts na makukuha. Have you seen  Shopwise 21st Anniversary catalogue?

Since we are doing our grocery at Shopwise Araneta Cubao, the store lay out suggests that we do our toiletries first. Can I just brag how lovely Shopwise Araneta Cubao is? The lay out is so mom friendly! And of course the fact that it offers not just grocery items is a plus plus for any shoppers. If most moms consider going to the grocery a vacation,  going to Shopwise Araneta Cubao is the grandest of them all. Kumpleto kase eh, from small appliances to big ones, to clothes, to toys, and the best part, kapag pagod ka na mag grocery, pwede ka umupo at kumain inside the store. Don’t we all love that kind of break while doing the grocery.

As I have mentioned, we got to the toiletries first, toothpaste, shampoo, alcohol etc. Safeguard Soap White 3pid 175g is buy 1 and get free Safeguard White 85g. Hindi ko papalampasin yan.

Pagdating naman sa snacks, Marius got his favorite crackers and it comes with free coffee.

This is what I am telling you about. Shopwise 21st Anniversary deals on beef. What can you do with beef cubes?

Discounted pork extra lean giniling. Ito talaga binibili ko na giniling because I don’t want too much fat on our diet. We usually buy 2 kg of pork extra lean giniling.

We cook 1 kg as the usual giniling, puno ng gulay at walang sabay and use it for omelet. The other 1 kg, we pre cooked and store it para pang sahog sa mga gulay recipes like chopsuey or ginisang sayote.

At dito ako pinaka tuwa! Chicken parts buy 1 kg and get 500 grams for free! Adobo forever mga momsh! But if you are looking for chicken recipes, here’s some that I can suggest:

  • Chicken Curry
  • Simple fried chicken
  • Pininyahang manok
  • Chicken Adobo sa gata

So how’s my Shopwise 21st Anniversary 2100 Pesos Shopping Challenge?

1K for my toiletries and some food, tapos sa meat section almost 1200. Pasok na talaga sa 2100 Pesos shopping challenge but this cake is calling my name!! Sabi nya “Mommy Pehpot, naka discount din ako! GET ME! GET ME!”

But all in all, my Shopwise 21st Anniversary 2100 Pesos Shopping Challenge was really fun and rewarding (kase hello more points to my Wise card). My kumareng Peachy of The Peach Kitchen namili din sila sa Shopwise, check out the 21static treats na nabili nya!

3 French Toast Recipes You Should Try

You love french toast? First time to hear about it? Wag kang mag alala, you are not alone. Is it a FRENCH food gaya ng french fries? They call it lost bread in Europe. What’s the best French Toast recipe? MADAMI! But I am going to share just 3 🙂

Let’s start with the basic French Toast but we are going to use condensed milk instead of plain milk:

  • a pack condensed milk (ito yung naka box na Alasaka ha)
  • 3-4 pcs egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • isang kurot na asin (yung pino ha)

Mix all ingredients then soak the bread quickly. Fry this and eat! Or pede mo i freezer pag ka prito mo then iinit sa oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg
  • 4 slices bread, cut into 1-inch thick strips (I used the raisin loaf that’s shaped like a baguette bought at French Baker)
  • 1 cup crushed Corn Flakes
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Maple syrup, for dippings

How to cook Corn Flakes-Crusted French Toast Sticks:

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Put crushed corn flakes in a plate for dredging.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together, eggs, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  4. Working one at a time, dip the bread strips into the egg mixture, then dredge in the crushed Corn Flakes, pressing to coat.
  5. Add the bread strips to the skillet, 3-4 at a time, and cook until evenly golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Serve immediately with maple syrup.

O this one naman it includes BAKING!! Here’s a French Toast recipe from At Home With Mrs C.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups torn up bread
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp vanilla
  • For The Topping
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease the bottom and sides of a 9×9″ glass baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Arrange the torn bread pieces in the pan.
  • In a bowl, make a custard by whisking together the milk, eggs, sugars and vanilla.
  • Pour custard over the bread, making sure that each piece is moistened. Refrigerate and allow to soak. You can actually prepare ahead up to this point and let the casserole soak overnight.
  • Prepare The Topping
    • Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.
    • Mash cold butter into the dry ingredients using a fork to form pebbles.
    • Sprinkle the topping over the soaked bread.
  • Bake Uncovered For
    • 30-35 minutes if you want a soft and squishy consistency, 40-45 minutes if you want your French toast to be more firm.

5 Reasons Why US Potatoes Is The Best Breakfast For Kids

I have 5 kids and 4 are already attending school, 2 must be ready by 5 AM while the older 2 must start getting ready by 6 AM. The youngest, I pray everyday that he won’t wake up until 7 AM. It’s a daily challenge but mostly it’s a win. I have with me a support system that makes everything seems easy. For one, my husband is trying to be the one to pacify Marius when he wakes up earlier than 7 AM. Husband usually sleeps at 2, I can’t thank him enough for doing that extra job. My mother on the other hand, help me with what the kids need.

Breakfast is one thing that I always try to be the one to prepare. It’s my way of saying or showing to them that even with the new baby, I still have time to take care of them. I make sure that they always eat a complete breakfast. One that is loaded with carbohydrates, protein, and fiber from fruits.

We try to alternate it with bread and Potatoes and I know you are going to ask why! So here’s 5 reasons why we include US Potatoes in my kids’ breakfast:

It is easy to prepare and versatile. From fried to bake to even making it in a soup. Potatoes can be served as snacks, breakfast in our case, or even as a main dish. Here’s a sample of a US Potato used as main dish:

That’s Seafood Potato Stew and the recipe you can find here: Seafood Potato Stew Recipe. US Potatoes is also good for baon. Last year, I made a one week baon menu using US Potatoes.

US Potatoes is delicious and my kids really love the taste no matter the recipe is. Of course our favorite will always be fried (specially the criss cross one) but we’re also inclined to choose US Potatoes Croquette.

US potatoes provides the energy, carbohydrates and potassium kids need to power performance throughout the school day. And that is the reason why this mom is all about potatoes. Being in the school for more almost 10 hours can be really tiring. I make sure that they have the energy they need by serving me the right food in the morning. US Potatoes is an ideal part of their breakfast because of the energy and potassium it provides. It’s also good for me since I am breastfeeding. Potatoes’ a good source of Potassium.

US Potatoes is available in leading supermarkets. Hindi sya mahirap hanapin and I can always get a bag of potatoes when we do our grocery, whatever supermarket it is.

It is relatively cheap specially the frozen. US potatoes affordability and versatility makes it the perfect breakfast for my kids. Hindi compromised and budget at health ng kids.

Potatoes USA, an organization that has thankfully brought US frozen, recently visited the culinary club of The Raya School in Fairview, Quezon City to demonstrate the potato’s versatility. Two potato dishes that was prepared were Broccoli Cheddar Potato Puffs and Chocolate Mashed Potato Truffles.
