6 Best Travel Tips For A Healthy And Enjoyable Summer Trip

Even if the year 2020 has just started and summer is still months away, we can’t help but feel excited about this beautiful season. With all the exciting adventures one can enjoy every summer, we can’t help but fancy and provide you with the best travel tips. However, it is also a time when lots of temptations go overboard, enticing us to wear those bikinis, drink cocktails, eat barbeques and ice cream and overdo our tans. While these may sound awesome, we should always remember to take care of ourselves amidst the fun and excitement.

Luckily, we’ve gathered the best travel tips for a healthy and enjoyable summer trip. Enjoy!

Grab Your Prescriptions and Visit Your Doctor

Some people tend to forget about refilling and bringing their medicines on their vacation trip, which is a big no-no. Before going on a trip, make sure to check and see if you have enough of your prescribed pills, and bring more than enough to be sure. Also, it’s best to make a doctor’s appointment so he can give you proper advice like regarding activities you can do safely and medications you may need to bring. He may even recommend a vaccine to make sure you don’t catch a disease that’s common in your travel destination.

Always Hydrate

While traveling and enjoying your getaway at the beach, make sure to keep yourself hydrated. Drinking lots of water in summer helps fuel your body and keeps your skin, hair lips from drying, enabling you to enjoy activities longer. Enjoy those juices, fruit-infused water, fruits like watermelon, or even yummy coconut juice for a healthy and tasty treat.

Don’t Forget to Reapply Sunscreen

Sunscreen works excellent in protecting your skin from the harsh rays of the sun. However, during the summer, when the sun’s heat is so intense, and you enjoy long hours outside, it’s best to reapply your favorite sunscreen every three hours or as needed. Got sensitive skin? Go for a mineral-based one.

Wear a Rashie

Women’s Rashies work great in protecting you from harmful UV rays and in preventing sunburns. However, these are not the only reasons to pack rashies on your trip. These also work great in keeping your skin soft, and your body warms all the while and lets you move with ease.

Ask Before Enjoying Your Food

Some people have extreme allergies on certain foods and ingredients. If you or your travel buddies have a food allergy or two, make sure to ask your server or tour guide the ingredients to make sure you don’t trigger an allergy attack. When staying at a hotel, make sure to note this when booking the accommodation for your trip.

Disconnect with the Online World for a While

Putting your gadgets down and disconnecting from social media lets you enjoy the view, worry less, socialize more, experience more, and savor the moment out of your usually busy world. Plus, it enables you to clear your mind and live for the moment, which is essential for your mental health.

Effective Healthy Lifestyle Habits

Maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle is not the easiest thing to do, primarily if your lifestyle was once poor for a long time. Of course, people have different definitions of what a good and poor lifestyle is, but the critical thing to remember is you have to feel alert and stable most times to say your lifestyle is grounding and ultimately beneficial for you. ‘To each his own’ as the saying goes, however, there are general things we must do ensure a balanced lifestyle whether you are always functioning on a strict or flexible schedule every day, here are some effective lifestyle tips to improve your physical and mental health.

Never Skip a Meal, Especially Breakfast

Mornings tend to make us feel sluggish, for some anxious, this is because it is during mornings that people prepare for a long day ahead. To avoid overeating during lunch and/or dinner, always eat a healthy breakfast composed of fiber, protein, and carbs as fuel for the rest of the day. You can get a balance of these through eating fruits, vegetables, healthy breakfast smoothies, and nuts. Always remember that skipping a meal might lead to low blood sugar and glucose levels that might make you feel sluggish and irritable throughout the day. As for lunch and dinner, ensure that you are getting a balanced meal through preparing a meal plan suitable to your health condition and health goals.

Make Time for Exercise

Although it sounds completely impossible given your tight and hectic schedule, exercise is vital for a healthy lifestyle. Exercise can be low or high intensity based on your health condition. Squeezing in any activity that makes you move your body, burn calories, and strengthen your muscles will make you reap great results in the long-run. Jogging, cycling, hiking, and trekking are good cardio workouts, while pilates and yoga are great for toning your body.

Practice Self-Care

Always know and gauge your body and mind’s breaking point. Never go past this breaking point as this will make you, and you will not like that. If you feel like work or the house is being too much, feel free to take a break and clear your mind to calm your body. Without proper self-care, anxiety and depression may spring up as a result of pushing yourself too much or being too hard on yourself. Always do things that make you feel genuine happiness and pick that above anything else.

Do Something Therapeutic

Like the previous point, make it a habit to de-stress and calm your mind regularly is always a good idea. Finding a hobby or any activity that serves as a creative outlet would ensure your peace of mind and serenity in everything you do. It could be painting, sculpting, gardening, anything that makes you feel happy and relaxed.

So those are the essentials in balancing your lifestyle. These principles are often advised by anyone who has mastered the art of a balanced lifestyle and peace in life.

Hack #1 Use a paper towel to keep your greens fresh

There’s nothing more frustrating than seeing your greens wilting even after keeping it on your fridge. To make your greens last for an extended period, wrap them with a paper towel and place them in a plastic container. The paper towel is handy for absorbing excess moisture coming from your greens while the container prevents your greens from getting crushed.

Hack #2 Use marshmallow to keep your brown sugar soft

For those who love to bake, keeping brown sugar soft at all times is quite challenging, especially if you don’t have the proper storage for it. To ensure that the sugar doesn’t harden, store it in an airtight container and put at least two pieces of marshmallow on top of it. You could also use a slice of bread as an excellent alternative to marshmallow. It will keep your sugar soft and ensure it doesn’t harden over time.

Hack #3 Use the oven for cooking hard boil eggs

If you haven’t mastered the boiling water method, then using the oven to cook hard boil eggs is an excellent alternative, especially if you have to boil a lot of eggs at the same time hard. To do this trick, heat the eggs in the oven for at least 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Then gently submerge the eggs in ice water for another 10 minutes.

Hack #4 Use a dry towel to dry your fish before cooking

To cook the fish perfectly can be tricky, especially if you want the browning to stand out. One way to get it right is by patting your fish dry using a paper towel before putting the fish on the hot pan. The paper towel removes the excess moisture from the fish that prevents it from browning. By getting rid of the wetness of your fish, it makes the browning to stand out much easier.

Hack #5 Use a plastic or metal container to peel garlic cloves quickly and easily

We all know that peeling garlic can be incredibly time-consuming, especially if you have to peel lots of it. To easily peel garlic gloves quickly, break the bulb of garlic into individual cloves, then place them into a plastic or metal container and vigorously shake the garlic. If cloves are still difficult to release, shake longer and more vigorously.

Knowing these simple yet straightforward kitchen hacks can be very useful. Try it and you’ll surely appreciate them.
